ColourPop Lippie Stix Review

I have to admit, I didn’t like the ColourPop Lippie Stix the first time I used it. The first shade I bought was one of their best sellers called “Lumiere” and even though it was matte (and I only use matte lipsticks) I wasn’t impressed with it so I gave it away and never bought it again. Not sure why I hated it in the first place, maybe because the shade didn’t look good on me, or I used a lip primer under it. But I happen to own another lippie stix again because I bought the ColourPop Lip Kit. So I tried using it again and to my surprise, it was my unexpected favorite from the kit! Scroll down to read my ColourPop Lippie Stix review and why I like it now.

What is it?

ColourPop Lippie Stix, or Matte X Lippie Stix according to the label on the bottom, has a high-intensity full coverage pigment with one stroke application. A long-wearing formula that has the smoothest, most velvety glide with a SUPER matte finish! If you love matte lipsticks but hates the lip-drying liquid lipsticks, then this product is for you.

PERFORMANCE

APPLICATION: As mentioned above, ColourPop Lippie Stix has a velvety texture but with a super matte finish. Despite having a matte finish, it’s not as drying as liquid lipsticks. Although it’s not as smooth as Clinique Chubby Sticks, it still glides nicely on the lips unlike the other highly pigmented It’s My Lip Crayon.

PACKAGING: I got my new lippie stix from the ColourPop Lip Kit. But if you buy it individually, it is packaged in a rectangular box like the ColourPop Lippie Primer here. While the lippie stix itself looks like a pen or a chubby eyeliner stick that you could screw to get the product up.

SMELL: Just like the ColourPop Ultra Matte Lips, the lippie stix are also unscented.

RESULTS: I remember the first time I used a ColourPop Lippie Stix, it was feathering and transferring. Plus, the shade didn’t look good on me. But now I think the reason it happened is that 1) I picked the wrong shade, and 2) I used a Lippie Primer under it. That or ColourPop changed its formula. Because when I used my “Secret Stash” lippie stix from the “Keep It Going” lip kit, it stayed on my lips. It didn’t feather nor transferred. And the best part, it stayed around 4-5 hours despite eating and drinking.

Top to Bottom: Lippie Stix, Lip Pencil and Ultra Matte Lips all from ColourPop

But what I like the most about the ColourPop Lippie Stix is the ease of use. If you’re an avid liquid lipstick user like me, then you know how a hustle it is sometimes to use. You need two hands and good control of your hands just to apply it. With this product, you only need one hand and it’s faster to use.

PROS: Easier to use than a liquid lipstick, long lasting, and affordable.

CONS: I honestly don’t see any cons here. Seriously!

Where to Buy?

ColourPop Lippie Stix is available in ColourPop website for $5, and they ship internationally. If you live in the Philippines you can try there legit online stores, but prices will be a little higher.
