Not all lipsticks can give you full coverage, or last long. Before liquid lipsticks, that’s the struggle women faces, but not everyone is a fan of it. Some still prefer the satin liquid type which is less drying but doesn’t last longer than a matte liquid lipstick, while some still prefer the good old solid lipstick tube. If you’re one of those then you need a primer. There are a lot now in the market, but I never tried it until I decided to buy a Colourpop Lippie Stix. Someone told me it will last longer if I use a primer so I bought one from the same brand. Below is my Colourpop Lippie Primer review…
What is it?
According to the Colourpop website, their Lippe Primer enhances the wear of any lip product and keeps your lips looking and feeling healthy! It contains itty bitty spherical beads that fill in lines making lips instantly smooth and plump! It also contains mango, avocado, and shea butter for moisture and Vitamin E to soothe your lips. It also claims to prevent your lipstick, especially the liquid types, from feathering.
PERFORMANCE
APPLICATION: Colourpop Lippie Primer is smooth and easy to apply. It’s not oily nor sticky, unlike lip balms. In fact, it made my lips very smooth and soft. I like applying it even if I’m not going to wear actual lipstick. Which you should take note that this product doesn’t have any color, like those very first lip balms during your tween years.
Colourpop Tip: Apply the Lippie Primer onto bare lips. Don’t forget the outer edge of the lip line- this will prevent feathering! Lips will instantly feel smooth and moisturized, creating a perfect base for any lipstick without diluting the pigmentation of your lip product!
PACKAGING: Colourpop Lippie Primers are packaged exactly like their Lippie Stix (as you could see in the photo above). It’s in a pen-like tube which you could screw up and down. Nothing special, but for the affordable price, I’m not expecting diamonds.
SMELL: I love the smell of this product! It’s like vanilla.
RESULTS: As mentioned above, Colourpop Lippie Primer made my lips soft and smooth, a perfect canvas to color your lipstick. I used this with It’s My Lip Crayon and oh my! This Lippie Primer really does what it promised to do. It enhanced the color of my lipstick and prevented it from feathering. But regarding the longevity, it doesn’t exactly makes your lipstick last all day long, unlike liquid lipsticks. At least a stain like a lip tint stays on your lips, even when you drink or eat. Your lipstick will not totally erase. Regarding the plump effect, it doesn’t really make my lips look plumper than usual.
Verdict
PROS: It makes your lips smooth, soft and prevents your lipstick from feathering. Plus it enhances your lipstick shade and has a lovely smell. If you hate the oiliness and stickiness of lip balms, the Colourpop Lippie Primer is a good replacement. Lastly, it’s very affordable which is a HUGE plus.
CONS: It doesn’t really make your lipstick last longer no plumper than expected.
Where to buy?
You could buy the Colourpop Lippie Primer for $5 only in Colourpop.com. If you find other sites that sell it for less, be careful because it’s probably fake.
