A Mommy-To-Be’s Wishlist: What Can I Get For Her?

There are endless lists of things a mommy-to-be might want during the pregnancy or after she gives birth. But we can assure you that there is nothing she likes better than setting up the nursery and preparing to spend time with her baby. Here are some things you want to get for her that might be on her wishlist!

Alphabet/ number/ color cards

It will take a while for the baby to take an active interest in activities like naming letters, numbers, and colors, but these foundational lessons can start at any age. It can be a soothing activity for the mother as well, as talking about or singing the alphabet does not take too many brain cells.

The older the baby becomes, the more they will appreciate the “games” being played with them through the cards. Try to find a large card set made of hardy material, so the cards don’t tear too easily!

First-year journal

Ever get confused by parents who talk about their baby’s milestones and developments that happen within a few months? The truth is, there’s so much change that happens just in the first year of the baby’s life that even parents can barely keep track of it.

One of the best gifts you can give to an expecting mother is a journal where they can keep all their mementos and write down all their thoughts about their baby’s first twelve months.

Kids’ cooking and baking set

Babies and toddlers love to grip things, and they absolutely love to be a part of the grownups’ lives. A cooking and baking set designed for children is just the thing they will enjoy growing up. The best would have realistic pieces that are sturdy enough to explore the shapes of and big enough to actually play at cooking.

You might need to be picky about the quality of the set, though, because toddlers put everything in their mouths, and a cooking set is more likely to be bitten at because of the nature of play.

Thick comfy bath slippers

Something that mothers do for their young babies that might take a very long while is bathing. If they are standing as they bathe their babies, they may easily get tired and their feet swell. Thick, comfy bath slippers would take the strain off their ankles and let them stand in comfort.

There are comfy bath slippers specifically made for mothers postpartum, so that is also something you might enjoy researching. Or even test it out if you’re buying at the store!

Toy vehicles of every kind

Another often-underestimated set of toys for both learning and playing is a set of vehicles. It can include cars and motorcycles, boats and airplanes, trucks and golf carts. It becomes easy to teach children what each vehicle is and to give them an idea of how they move and what they do very early on.

You can get creative! Add jet skis, paragliders, ATVs, trains, rocket ships; anything you think might be both entertaining and easy to learn about.

Get creative!

Chances are, everyone is looking at the same few lists of things to get expecting moms. Why not try something different from this list?
