Every girl wants to constantly upgrade her makeup skills. And many girls want to look like models once they are done applying makeup. However, without a professional makeup artist, it may seem like it’s impossible to perfect your makeup routine and end up looking like you are on your way to a runway. Luckily, everyone can learn how to apply makeup as if they are preparing for a fashion show, you just need to know a few secrets in order to perfect it. So, let’s dive into the makeup tips that only models know.

Primer

In order for your foundation to last all day, you need to use a primer. It helps you stay looking fresh for hours and helps hide fine lines. Also, make sure to use rosewater spray before applying any makeup. This will provide you with a fresh glow and calm any irritations.

Another important thing is finding the perfect primer for your skin tone. This will prevent makeup from smudging, it will soften fine lines and neutralize any redness. If your skin often feels dull, you can pick a light pink primer and it will give it a subtle glow. And if your skin is brighter, you can opt for a lilac shade, while a green primer is used to neutralize redness.

Lastly, don’t forget to prime your lips! If you don’t want your lipstick to feather or settle into lines, get a lip primer or use an eye one (it may even do a better job).

Foundation

We all have blemishes, spots, and under-eye circles, but with a perfect foundation, you can hide any of those imperfections. The first step to finding the perfect foundation is looking for the right consistency. This will depend on the look you want to go for, and there are three types of foundations – sheer, medium, and full. Sheer is used for lighter coverage, medium for hiding redness and blemishes, while full foundation is used for a full face of makeup with an opaque finish.

Also, it is important to consider the color of your neck when choosing the right shade. You don’t want your face to be lighter or darker than your neck, so make sure to find a shade that sits between the color of your face and neck. And don’t forget to apply foundation on your neck and check, too, as well as to blend over your ears. Every model knows that, and you don’t want any skin color to stick out, just look at how these models in London have nicely blended their foundation.

Lastly, when applying your foundation always use a downward stroke. We all have peach fuzz on our cheeks, so if you don’t want to shave your face, use downward strokes to apply foundation in order to give it a more natural flow along with the peach fuzz.

Concealer

Concealer is the one that helps hide signs of tiredness, so you should know how to properly use it in order to hide imperfections. First of all, warm it up before applying it. You can do this by simply holding it for a few seconds in your hands. The heat will smoothen the coverage and soften the texture.

Also, you can mix your concealer with a moisturizer and have a flawless finish (1:3 ratio). Plus, it will be much easier to blend it in. And make sure to apply it after applying foundation.

Lastly, avoid putting concealer on your eyelids. If you do apply it, it will cause your eye shadow to crease which doesn’t look great.

Blush/Bronzer

Blush and bronzer are an important part of a complete model-like makeup routine. They accentuate your cheeks and help soften the look, but before applying you should know a few tricks. Remember to apply your blush under foundation, because this is a unique way to accomplish a natural glow.

Another very important thing to remember is to blush according to your face type. Figure out the shape of your face and blush cleverly in order to define and contour your cheekbones. Blush and bronzer need to be applied to appropriate places in order to soften needed areas of your face and accentuate your best features.

Once you are done applying blush, blot it with a tissue. This will create a beautiful flush of color on your cheeks, even better than a brush would do.

Lips

The first and most important thing is to always start applying lipstick from the middle. Draw an ‘X’ at your cupid bow and work from this point to the outer edges. If you want your lips to look bigger, put liner outside your lips but be careful so it doesn’t look odd. You can simply apply it along the outer margins of your lips for a fuller pout. And it goes without saying to avoid lipstick on your teeth. To achieve this you can put your thumb inside your lips, pout, and pull the thumb out to remove excess lipstick.

Applying makeup is an art! It may look difficult, but with some practice and these great tips that models use, you will achieve the most perfect look.
