Ageless Beauty – How Naomi Campbell Redefined Runway Confidence at 53

We all know about the high fashion supermodel’s career trajectory, but you may not know that she is a master of reinvention. She recently showcased her signature strut on the runway to debut her latest collaboration with PrettyLittleThing.

Beauty is ageless. Despite the US being youth-obsessed, many Asian cultures embrace their beauty at all ages.

How She Became a Fashion Icon

Naomi Campbell is a fashion icon, inspiring a generation of models with her feline features and flowing mane. She rose to fame during the ’90s alongside Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer, Helena Christensen, and Linda Evangelista, gracing countless runways and magazine covers.

The trailblazing model has a unique way of bringing her personality to collaborations with prominent designers, publications, and photographers. Her style has a timeless quality that never goes out of trend.

Campbell also makes headlines for her philanthropic endeavors and social media presence. Most recently, the supermodel made a captivating announcement about her newfound motherhood, letting the world know she has two young children to celebrate with her. We can’t wait to see what this next chapter of her life has in store for the iconic beauty.

Her CFDA Moment

Regarding ageless beauty, there’s no shortage of products and beauty advice geared toward those of us beyond our prime. Search the web for magic creams, anti-aging serums, and tips for retaining youthful vitality. Massage your face, drink kale juice, and there’s always Botox(TM) if all else fails.

At the event celebrating CFDA’s 60th anniversary in New York, Campbell walked with her trademark supermodel swagger to showcase her PrettyLittleThing collaboration. The show, which kicked off New York Fashion Week, saw a cascade of models in figure-hugging designs of sparkly metallic silver.

The night also celebrated the launch of CFDA’s IMPACT initiative, which will help support and nurture diversity in fashion across all sectors. The initiative will connect CFDA’s 450 members, fashion adjacent companies and non-fashion institutions, and nonprofit and university partners to help them identify and support emerging talent in historically underrepresented communities. The initiative will begin with a talent directory powered by Creatively, a job platform for creatives.

Her Collaboration with PrettyLittleThing

The OG supermodel is heating things again with her collaboration with fast-fashion brand PrettyLittleThing. The collection, which hits stores September 5, reimagines some of Campbell’s favorite looks from her career in sequined silver minidresses, black croc-patterned faux leather halter styles, and disco-ball-like sequined bodycon designs.

At a runway show last night to unofficially kick off New York Fashion Week, Campbell debuted the collection alongside fellow models, including Emily Ratajkowski and Lori Harvey in barely-there designs. The 71-piece collection—which includes everything from sequin minidresses and strappy gowns to faux-fur coats and tailored pantsuits—was designed by Campbell in partnership with emerging designers Victor Anate of Vicnate and Edvin Thompson of Theophilio.

The model says she knew the line would spark a backlash from eco-conscious shoppers—similar to what CFDA winner Kourtney Kardashian faced with her PLT collection—but that she wants to use her star power to spotlight rising designers like Anate and Thompson. She also knows that the brand’s reach and global audience will help to promote them to a broader base of fashion fans.

Her New Book

The supermodel starred in an upcoming Apple+ series to explore her and other iconic runway models Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, and Christy Turlington’s meteoric careers. The show will feature interviews and details of their post-modeling business ventures and charitable pursuits.

In a new book, Naomi Campbell—entrepreneur, activist, and provocateur—takes us through her electrifying career with an evocative collection of archival images, including unforgettable magazine covers, ad campaigns, video stills, and editorial shoots. Updated and published in cooperation with the icon, this deluxe volume is jam-packed with memorable imagery and exclusive text from Campbell herself.

The world may be youth-obsessed, but beauty can be found at all ages. Ageless Beauty celebrates a more inclusive understanding of what it means to be beautiful.
