Hype or Not: Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Tinted Lip Oil Review

rare beauty soft pinch tinted lip oil review

I honestly thought Rare Beauty will be another one of those celebrity brands that will only sell because of the founder’s star power. But it definitely proves us skeptics wrong. I personally love their Positive Light Tinted Moisturizer which I always use when I attend concerts. I also have their cult-fave Soft Pinch Liquid Blush which made the brand really popular even for non-Selena Gomez fans. And now, I will write my Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Tinted Lip Oil review, which is a product they recently launched.

VERDICT
MY THOUGHTS
The Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Tinted Lip Oil is not a traditional lip oil like Clarins or Dior. For me, it's more like a lip tint. It feels a little bit minty for a plumping effect but it feels light on the lips. I almost felt nothing.
PROS
Lightweight
Non-Sticky
Leaves a "lips but better" tint
CONS
Moisture on lips doesn't last long

PRODUCT RATING

WHAT IS IT?

Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Tinted Lip Oil is an innovative lip jelly that transforms into a lightweight oil, starting off glossy, then leaving lips tinted while staying comfortable—never sticky—all day. Made with jojoba and sunflower seed oil, it instantly hydrates and nourishes for soft, smooth lips that feel moisturized all day. It also gently plumps lips for a fuller, healthier-looking pout in a second.

It comes in 8 shades but I only got one which is “Happy” a cool pink shade.

PERFORMANCE

APPLICATION: Swipe over bare lips, adding layers as desired.

SCENT: It has a mild mint scent.

PACKAGING: It has the same packaging as their Soft Pinch Blush that has a circle on top of the cap. I really like that detail because I often have a hard time opening products. When I first used the blush, I was already expecting to exert a lot of effort but I was surprised by how easily I opened it. I heard Selena really asked to make it like that because she has rheumatism because of her Lupus.

MY EXPERIENCE

The first thing you need to know about the Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Tinted Lip Oil is that it’s not a traditional lip oil like the Clarins or Dior. For me, it’s more like a lip tint. It feels a little bit minty for a plumping effect but it feels light on the lips. I almost felt nothing.

It doesn’t also feel thick or tacky. However, it’s not really moisturizing. After an hour of application, my lips feel as dry as before I applied the product. But it doesn’t feel like a lip gloss either. It did leave a nice tint on my lips that looks like “my lips but better” and it doesn’t erase easily.

Overall, I like this product because I’m not a fan of lip oils and lip gloss. I hate sticky products on my lips but I do want some shine on my lips. Will I repurchase it? Maybe, if Sephora has a sale.

Should you buy this product? If you’re looking for lip oil that will moisturize your lip for hours or help heal your dry lips, then this is not for you. If you want a lip tint with a little moisture and shine but hate lip gloss, then you’ll like this product.

On the left side, this was the result of 3-4 swipes of the lip oil. While on the right, this was my lips after over an hour. It left a pretty tint but my lips look dry again.
