Emerging Fashion and Accessories Trends for Fall 2021

Fashion for Fall 2021 has its roots firmly planted in classic tailoring with a new take on texture teamed with luxe fabrics, mixing the hard and the soft.

Detailing comes into its own with draping, pleating, ruffles, ruching and bold bows. Gone are the strong structured silhouettes dominated by Balmain, in favor of less overtly sexy and more ladylike softer tailoring.

Embellishments of all-over sequins, crystals and studs are carefully placed to interject interest and glamour into single-color blocks. These add some sophisticated sparkle to hems, necklines and waistbands.

Colors for Fall 2021

Black-on-black adds a dash of gothic and rock ’n’ roll. Overall Fall 2021 sees a dark and romantic palette of midnight hues of purple, gray, blue and black, with the occasional pop of color such as lipstick red and turquoise.

Key Looks for Fall 2021

Whether its an ankle-length cape to keep out the cold, a sequinned shift dress, a draped cardigan or a tailored leather jacket, there is something timeless about the key pieces for fall.

Chunky Knits

This is the season of the textured knit, in a profusion of lengths, with designers playing with proportions. Gently draped long-line cardigans take their place alongside short funnel neck coatigans and loose feminine ponchos.

Cable knits, big on the menswear runways in 2021, influence womenswear, with cable detailing on shoulders, pockets and necklines. The Ikat-inspired print of spring makes way for Nordic and North American patterned Intarsia knits for fall. These colorful and tonal yarns adorn chunky wrap-around cardigans.

Jackets

A transitional piece, timeless and non-age dependant, the leather jacket takes its inspiration from sleek sportswear silhouettes this fall. The look de jour is form-fitting leather in glossy black, with crew necks and biker-inspired necklines and studded shoulders and quilted panels.

Influenced by the earlier years biographical film Coco Before Chanel (Sony Pictures), Chanel-style jackets can be found in abundance, updated with embellishments such as beading and studs.

Coats

Fur-trim enjoys a revival whilst military-esque and double-breasted coats grow longer in length. Nipped-in waistlines and billowy bottom-halves are the order of the day. Enter also the boyfriend coat, a natural extension of the boyfriend blazer; oversized man-style coats ruled the runways at DKNY.

New York runways featured an array of loose feminine ponchos and capes from designers Phillip Lim, Marc Jacobs and Zac Posen. From Russian czarina to English country girl, the cape makes a comeback and is set to be one of the biggest fashion trends for Fall 2021.

Pants and Jeans

With this season’s take on texture, wax-finish pants add a touch of rock chic. Adding a tactile luster to cotton and denim, Fall 2021 finds them in chocolate colors and cherry shades. Leather continues to be a key trend in trousers, whilst harem pants and jodhpurs have not yet had their day, evolving into paneled close-fitting trousers in a neutral color palette of khaki and stone.

Last year’s vintage washed denim makes way for midnight blue blocks of color whilst the skinny-leg gives way to a subtle flare. The faithful bootcut, a friend to all figures, infiltrates the market again, whilst splattered, graffiti-print jeans, (Proenza Schouler) give a nod to street art for those who want to express their individuality.

Dresses

Simple shift dresses prove to be a key shape – awash with jewel shades of sequins for evening wear. It’s all about eye-catching placement details, with crystal and bejeweled trims used to spice up single-color blocks. Floor-length silhouettes in the guise of maxi dresses sparkle and shimmer in this season’s moody palette of midnight hues. Fashion continues to get the cold shoulder with asymmetric necklines.

There is much to get excited about for the forthcoming season with wearable styles which prove timeless and less age-dependant. Fall 2021 fashion is grounded firmly in the classics, but with a modern twist from eye-catching embellishments, tactile fabrics and textures.

Fashion Accessories Trends

The easiest way to give a nod to Fall Winter trends is to invest in the shoe (or boot) of the moment, some statement hosiery, gorgeous gloves or an up-to-the-minute headpiece, the distinctive snood, writes website online-casinos.id.

Shoes and Boots

The thigh-high boots of the ‘80s make a welcome or unwelcome return, depending on your age and viewpoint! The golden rule is to avoid looking vampish by teaming them with chunky sweater dresses, oversized blazers and mannish shirts.

Patent court shoes also get a little lift, with the addition of some on-trend platforms. Chunky yet still feminine, the added bulk complements a winter weight outfit, and gives extra inches of lift without actually increasing heel height.

The Snood

The snood had a fashion moment in the fall of earlier years but returns with a vengeance. The chicest way to ward off winter chills, according to Vogue magazine, wear one Medieval-style draped over the head, or hang it loosely round the neck.

The snood can be worn with everything from coats to dresses to evening gowns, and offers a replacement to a necklace or scarf. This season sees them not only in wool, but in fur and fun fabrics. Choose neutral urban tones.

Chunky Scarves

Bigger, chunkier and longer, that’s this season’s scarf. The perfect partner to a thick sweater dress or knitted coat. Think bold texture and color. Wear it tightly wrapped around the neck or let it fall loose, über long.

Statement Tights

Providing a fashionable alternative to the ever-popular leggings, the hottest hosiery trend for winter is statement tights – everything from animal-print, bold colour, metallic to opaque tights masquerading as stockings, and sexy fishnets in all the colors of the rainbow.

From polka dots to classic houndstooth check, patterned tights are a must this season. Mix and match contrasting patterns such as spots and stripes and cover legs with two-tone tights and dramatically patterned fishnets. Celebrities such as Sarah Jessica Parker and Lilly Allen were the first to corner this trend, which is now taking over the high-street.

Keep warm with some glittery woolen tights or shine with some shimmering glamor for evening wear. With bright pinks, blues and reds this is one way to add an injection of energy to a monochrome winter’s outfit.

Elbow-length Gloves

The season’s retro 40s trend is epitomized in elegant elbow-length gloves. Long leather gloves in all the colors of the rainbow are designed to give an outfit a pop of color. Choose from fingerless or snakeskin or sloppy oversized woollen knits, falling loosely from the elbow.

To be bang on trend this winter don’t be afraid to go bold with accessories. Pile on favorite pieces and go for texture and bulk. From the elegance of elbow length gloves to the sauciness of thigh-high-boots, let accessories be a main feature of any winter outfit.
