Tips for Practising Self-Love When You Have a Busy Schedule

Practicing self-love is not something many of us do too often, and not because we don’t want to but a lot of us simply don’t have the time! Many of us are working from home now and find that our schedules are even busier than they were before and we can’t seem to find the time to show ourselves some self-love, and let’s face it, we need it now more than ever!

Here are some self-love tips for those of us on a tight schedule.

  • Have a meal you really enjoy

We all have that one meal that makes us feel good, whether it’s a hearty home-cooked meal or a burger/pizza from your favourite take-out joint. When you’re super busy, it’s important to remember to eat something. So every now and then, take the time to sit down and enjoy a delicious meal.

Even if you don’t have the time to make a home-cooked meal, order in that one meal you really enjoy from your local restaurant or get that fast food you’ve been craving. Not only will this lift your spirits it will also have you re-fuelled to get back to your busy day!

  • Listen to music you enjoy

No one can deny the power that music has to make you feel good when you’re sad, stressed, or overworked. Even with a busy schedule, there are some things we have to make time for, meals, showers, sleep, etc. These are often things that we do in a rush especially when our schedules are jam-packed, so why not make them more enjoyable by putting on a feel-good playlist to enjoy while you’re doing these otherwise mundane tasks.

In the morning while you’re getting ready for your busy day ahead you can listen to some music you love and set a good tone for the rest of the day. The great thing about music is you can listen to it and enjoy it even as you’re going about your day ticking off the items on your to-do list.

  • Follow a night-time routine

We’re currently living in a world where a lot of us are working from home and this means we often forget to stop working! After a long day, it’s important to set your work aside for the night, sit down and unwind. I’m sure a lot of you will say you don’t have the time to unwind, but it’s important that you practice a little self-love even if it’s only for an hour each night.

Set aside some time before you go to bed to do something that you enjoy; whether that’s reading a chapter of a good book, catching up on the sports highlights you’ve missed, enjoying a glass of wine or a beer, watching an episode of that series you’ve been dying to see, or even just browsing through social media. The point is, it’s a little bit of time after a busy day that’s just for you.

We’re all living increasingly busy lives and sometimes we forget to set a little bit of time aside to take care of ourselves. Some of us may not have the luxury of being able to take time off work, but these are just some of the ways we can look after our mental well-being in between all our other daily tasks.

If you’d like to make sure that your friends and family are practising self-love too, consider spoiling them with a thoughtful hug in a box gift box. The gesture goes a long way. Remember, we should never be too busy for self-care.
