If you like coloring, bleaching, or using heating tools on your hair, or anything that can potentially dry and damage your hair, then you need Olaplex in your life! I know there’s been a lot of hype around the product, and most of the time, hyped-up products leave us disappointed. But there’s a reason why celebs like Kim Kardashian rave about its miraculous hair-repairing abilities. Keep reading this Olaplex No. 3 review to know why.
WHAT IS IT?
Olplex No. 3 Hair Perfector is a concentrated treatment that helps to strengthen and protect your hair, repairing damaged strands, and restoring your locks to their healthy shine. It contains a first-of-its-kind, patented, bond-building technology, which relinks the broken disulfide bonds caused by chemical, thermal, and mechanical damage to the hair. This formula is made to work with every hair type, providing a real, structural repair that works from within.
PERFORMANCE
APPLICATION:
- Use once a week – and 2-3 times a week for damaged hair.
- Apply a generous amount to damp, towel-dried from the scalp to the ends until the hair is thoroughly saturated.
- Leave on for a minimum of 10 minutes, longer if desired.
- Rinse, then shampoo and condition as usual.
SCENT: It doesn’t have a strong scent, but it smells nice like sweet.
PACKAGING: It is packaged in a plastic bottle that is easy to squeeze. Also, it only contains 100 ml so it is really small.
TEXTURE & FORMULA: It feels creamy but not that thick, it’s almost like an emulsion, so it’s easy to spread on your damped hair.
MY EXPERIENCE
I used the Olpalex No. 3 two consecutive nights before I went to the salon to had my hair bleached, as recommended by the people of Reddit. On my first night, I followed all the directions, and yet, after I towel-dried my hair I felt… nothing. I didn’t really see or felt any improvement in my hair. Unlike with the conditioner or Hairfinity mask, I immediately felt my hair feels smoother and softer. I wasn’t loving it, I felt like I got duped by paid reviews again.
But in the salon, the hairstylist was amazed by how my hair was handling the bleaching process. She said, not much has fallen and after she blow-dried my hair, she was shocked how my hair doesn’t look damaged at all. And take note, this wasn’t my first bleach. But the chemical process doesn’t end there, she has to dye my hair violet. By 11 PM, after 10 hours of bleach and color, my hair looks normal and soft. The hairstylist admitted she’d heard of Olaplex before but she hasn’t used it on her salon yet, and so she was really impressed.
I used the Olplex again the next night after the salon appointment, as suggested by the people in Reddit to keep my hair healthy.
On my first week, I used Olplex twice. But the week after that, I was just using it only once a week, and it made my hair really healthy and glossy! You see, Olaplex No. 3 Hair Perfector is not like any conditioner or hair mask you can buy in the drugstores which instantly makes your hair smoother and softer. Because when you stop using those products, your hair will be back to its damaged or dry state. But with Olaplex No. 3, it works from within and the result lasts a long time! By now, I am using it for 4 months sporadically yet my hair is still healthy and glossy.
NOTE: My hair is normal before the bleaching and coloring if you’re curious how Olaplex works for curly hair, read this review from Refinery29. And here’s more review from other hair conditions. Some people leave this too overnight, here’s a review for that.
