Klairs Supple Preparation Unscented Toner Review

The Klairs Supple Preparation Toner is a product that I’ve been wanting to try for so long. I always read good reviews about it from several blogs and Redditors from Asian Beauty. But despite that, I kinda held back whenever I had a chance to buy it because I’ve also read some reviews where people complain about the scent due to its essential oil, and I’m also not a fan of scented skincare products. So, Klairs decided to create a version of their best-selling toner without the essential oil for people who are sensitive to fragrance. But is it as good as their original scented formula? Scroll down to read my Klairs Supple Preparation Unscented Toner review.

VERDICT
MY THOUGHTS
Now I finally know why so many people are raving about this product and why the OG Klairs Supple Preparation Toner is one of the best selling products in many K-beauty stores. It does what it says, it is soothing, hydrating, and moisturizing. I have oily skin but I also have dry patches, and this toner got rid of it without making my skin look greasy from moisturizing.
PROS
Moisturizing
Hydrating
Makes skin plumper and bouncy.
With continued use, it can make the skin smoother and brighter because the skin glows brighter with high moisture retention.
It's lightweight and absorbs easily into the skin while prolonging hydration.
CONS
Besides the masking fragrance, I honestly don't see any cons at all. No bull****!

INGREDIENTS: This toner contains Centella Asiatica Extract which people with acne-prone skin will love because of its anti-inflammatory function. You can read about its full ingredients in this CosDNA Analysis. Both this unscented version and the original formula contains Tocopheryl Acetate which scored 3 in CosDNA Safety, but unlike the original formula, this unscented version does not contain Lemon Peel Oil which also scored 3 on the safety.

PERFORMANCE

APPLICATION: After cleansing, apply the toner to clean skin. Pat with palms for complete absorption. But multiple application is recommended for dry areas.

FORMULA: It has a thick, almost gel-like texture that’s why it’s highly recommended to apply by patting using your palms instead of using a cotton pad. But it is still liquid enough to be a toner.

unscented does not mean fragrance-free.  In fact, “unscented” products typically have added fragrance agents used to mask the other smells. To find out if a certain product is truly unscented or fragrance-free, check the ingredients.

SCENT: Before using the Klairs Supple Preparation Unscented Toner, I tried a sample of the original formula just to check the scent. The original formula has a floral scent while this new formula, despite having labeled unscented, I still detected a very mild scent which is hard to describe. Have you ever tried using an unscented product but you still detected a smell that you can’t describe besides something chemical? If you do, then that’s exactly what I smelled in this product. Actually, unscented does not mean fragrance-free.  In fact, “unscented” products typically have added fragrance agents used to mask the other smells. To find out if a certain product is truly unscented or fragrance-free, check the ingredients. In this product’s CosDNA Analysis, it says it contains Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride and Glycyrrhiza Glabra Root Extract which both functions as a fragrance. But don’t worry, they both scored 1 on the safety test which means it is safe for long-term use.

PACKAGING: It is packaged in the same carton box and plastic bottle as the original formula but with a different color. The unscented version comes with a clear bottle with a violet label which I like because you can easily see how much toner is left.

RESULT: Now I finally know why so many people are raving about this product and why the Klairs Supple Preparation Toner is one of the best selling products in many K-beauty stores. It does what it says, it is soothing, hydrating, and moisturizing. I have oily skin but I also have dry patches, and this toner got rid of it without making my skin look greasy from moisturizing. It is also lightweight and absorbs easily into my skin. If you do the 7 Skin Method, the Klairs Supple Preparation Unscented Toner is a good product to use, it will really make your skin plump, bouncy, smoother and brighter, no bullsh**! I both used the original and the unscented version, and I honestly didn’t see any difference in the performance and result. Only the scents are different.

Lastly, I love using this before applying my makeup. It makes my skin smoother so it gives me a good base thus the application of my makeup is smoother and even, resulting in a natural-looking and flawless makeup finish.
