Daisy Edgar-Jones on Being Mistaken For Joseph Quinn From ‘Stranger Things’

Daisy Edgar-Jones will always be known for her pathbreaking role as Marianne Sheridan in Normal People during the 2020 quarantine. However, that is not the only role she is known for.

As it turns out, scores of people are convinced that she was apparently great in her role as Eddie Minson in Stranger Things. Over the summer of 2022, Edgar Jones recalls how many people mistook her for Joseph Quinn, who, in reality, played the popular role of Eddie in the superhit Stranger Things season 4.

‘Everyone is saying I look like Joe [Joseph] Quinn, who is brilliant in that series. I do see the likeness. I think we could play brother or sister. That was quite funny. Everyone is like “Oh my God, you’re in Stranger Things,” the actor said to Elle UK.

In Stranger Things’ fourth season, Joseph Quinn captivated viewers as Eddie Munson. Daisy Edgar-Jones share an uncanny similarity in their facial features. While Edgar-Jones might not be caught up in Upside Down chaos, her world took a 360-degree turn when she starred in the hit BBC series Normal People opposite Paul Mescal, an award-winning actor at the beginning of the 2020 COVID pandemic.

Daisy Edgar-Jones and Paul Mescal – Best Friends Turned Co-Actors

Mescal is Edgar-Jones’s co-actor on Normal People and her best friend forever. She chose Paul out of her recent co-stars to tattoo her, saying he has good taste in tattoos and is very steady.

Apart from starring in The Normal People together, Daisy and Paul also graced the Met Gala’s red carpet earlier in 2022.

Other Works of Daisy Edgar-Jones Beyond the Acclaim of Normal People

While Edgar-Jones will forever be remembered for her role of Marianne in Normal People and perhaps her resemblance with Quinn, her potential is unlimited. Other works she starred in outside of Normal People demonstrate her talent.

So, we bring a comprehensive list of Daisy Edgar-Jones’s other works where she shines on her merit and that we think you would like.

A 2018 independent drama film written by Richard Cameron and directed by Bill Buckhurst, the Pond Life stars Daisy Edgar-Jones, Esmé Creed-Miles, Tom Varey, Angus Imrie, and Abraham Lewis.

During the summer of 1994, a group of friends embarks on a fishing trip that changes their lives forever. The film starts with rumors of a giant carp being sighted in the nearby ponds. Trevor, played by actor Tom Varey, is fond of fishing and decides to catch the rumored fish with the help of his friends.

Daisy plays the role of Cassie, one of the teenage friends, and beautifully enacts the happiness and troubles of adolescent life and growing up.

If you like black horror comedy films, then you are in for a doozy on this one. Released in 2022, Fresh, directed by Mimi Cave, stars Daisy Edgar-Jones and Sebastian Stan in lead roles. Release on Hulu, the film tells the story of Noa, played by Edgar-Jones, who is dissatisfied with her dating experience through apps and decides to meet her potential partners the old-school way – in real life.

She comes across Steve, played by Sebastian Stan, and is immediately captivated by his charm. However, everything is not as it seems, and something nasty lurks under Steve’s perfect exterior. That’s all we can say without giving spoilers.

Reese Witherspoon herself produced the movie based on the 2018 Delia Owens novel of the same name. The film follows two stories connected by a single character Kya Clark played by Daisy Edgar-Jones.

Kya Clark is an abandoned girl who raises herself in the marshlands of North Carolina. The film depicts her life journey and resilience. During her interview with Elle Canada, Edgar-Jones said that her character Kya’s curiosity and resilience hooked her to the story and helped her prepare for the role.

“Kya suffers a lot of hardship, and despite that, she’s able to bounce back and survive in this hostile environment but ultimately thrive as well. And I think that’s very admirable,” Daisy was quoted saying.

The screenplay for this series, Under the Banner of Heaven, was adapted from Jon Krakauer’s book of the same name. The book weaves the origin story of the Mormon church and a 1984 double homicide committed by fundamentalist brothers.

The series takes the artistic independence of mixing fiction and non-fictional elements and is a must-watch for all Daisy Edgar-Jones fans.

The Bottomline:

Daisy Edgar-Jones is a rising star and an actor to watch out for. However, she is also a fun human who loves to perform karaoke on Don Henly’s “Dirty Dancing.” A girl who prefers tequila shots over sambuca, she is on a mission to capture our hearts on-screen and off-screen.
