Cropped Top: The Dress code

Cross Crop Top seems to be about to define the regulation length of many of the seasonal garments. Pants, jackets, sweatshirts, and tops are indeed called upon to be cut in such a way as to acquire a neo-volume allowing either to reveal the ankle or the navel. And if among them, the cropped T-shirt has already seduced some fashionistas since last summer, they should soon be much more likely to adopt it.

We may sound the death knell of the 80’s/90’s revival, but one of the highlights of these two decades is nonetheless settling comfortably in summer dressing rooms. Very representative of this period, cropped lengths have indeed convinced fashionistas. However, according to next winter’s collections, this attraction is likely to grow in the coming months.

That said, cropped jackets are currently rare on the market and cropped pants present little difficulty in terms of dress code, it is the t-shirts that currently focus our attention. Before looking at the modus operandi to apply to them, let’s go back to the origins of these tops called to parade massively in the street.

The cropped phenomenon actually comes to us from the United States. In the early 1980s, American football players began to cut their T-shirts above the navel, in order to better distribute their body heat. Gradually, more and more athletes were in favor of this new length, which brought them more comfort.

Very quickly, the street took them over, to such an extent that these tops – considered immodest, because sometimes stopped just below the chest – were banned in certain public places. The trend then gradually disappeared.

It was only at the end of the 1990s, when singers such as Madonna, Shakira, or Fergie seized it that the crop made its reappearance, causing the stylistic disasters that we know. It must be said that the ultra-short cropped tight top has never really been chic.

It will be necessary to wait for the summer of 2009 so that this format of t-shirt ends up making its way among the sharp fashionistas. However, it wasn’t until it caught on around recent fashion weeks that the cropped became truly hyped.

It remains to known how to apprehend this kind of trendy model, but nevertheless highly risky. First of all, the cropped t-shirt should not be tight, whatever its length. Whether it stops just below the navel or just above, we, therefore, preferred it slightly blurred.
