How To Use A Sports Bra Correctly

Within the world of bras, there are some that are setting the standard these days and these are the sport bras. Comfortable and providers of a better hold, it is not surprising that many women feel interested in using it, especially if they perform some kind of pphysical activity.

Sport bras can be used to perform any type of physical activity, and there is a very important thing that needs to be emphasized at this point. Their manufacturers have taken charge of designing various types of bra, which adapt more easily to certain sports. For example, a low impact bra is enough when doing yoga or Pilates, however, these do not work well for running.

Choosing the right bra is a combination of several elements: first, the sport or the physical activity during which it will be used, your body type, its material and, of course, its size.

The Sport Or The Activity

Generally, sport bras are classified into three categories, and these depend on the impact of the physical activity in which they will be used. Let’s see:

  • Low impact bras: as previously mentioned in this example, these are ideal to be worn during a yoga session and in women with a small bust. The reason that they are used in these cases is because they are not focused on good support, but rather on an attractive design. Very large busts will not receive the necessary support from this bra, and neither will any woman who practices sports where there is a great amount of movement.
  • Medium impact bras: these are simply those that collect average characteristics between the two groups of main bras. They work well to go to the gym, maybe go jogging, and are ideal for girls that use medium cups (usually a B one).
  • High impact bras: these are the most important of all, and also the most expensive. These do not focus on the aesthetic, but rather on its resistance and support. They tend to have thicker straps and in many cases have a more or less formed cup (they are not limited only to the fabric with spandex) so that the chest feels more protected and at the same time comfortable. A wide variety of these bras can be found through the Tuffwomen website.

Your body

Here there is not much to consider beyond the size of your chest. If you are a girl of small or medium chest you can have any type of sports bra without much difficulty, since any of them can provide good support.

However, if you are one of these girls with a plus size bust, then things change a lot. Basically the most recommendable thing is opting always for high impact bras, which always provide better support. Make sure that their designs cover as much as possible of your bust so that you can really perceive the feeling of protection and support that these pieces must give you.

The material

Usually, the sports bras, like the leggings, are the product of an alloy between several types of fabrics and materials that are the responsible of this set of special characteristics: comfortable, elastic, protective and flexible.

For a bra to provide all these characteristics (which otherwise look quite contradictory) it is very important to combine  materials such as nylon, spandex, cotton, elastane, polyester, or at least a few of them. This is essential to define the quality of the product.

Size

Bingo! the essential element. One of the biggest challenges when buying a bra – of any kind – is to hit the right size. A sport bra is designed to give you  protection and comfort at the same time. However, if its size is inadequate, then the bra will generate any type of feeling less the previous two. The fact that the material used is elastic does not mean that it has to be stretched to its maximum capacity because, in addition to not fulfilling its function, it will wear out more quickly. If your size is L or a 40B, then there is no reason to buy a S size piece, stop thinking you need to compress your body. Remember that in this matter nothing is more important than comfort.
