Ateez is a South Korean boy band. They debuted in 2018 and getting more popular globally. They’re currently on their world tour and gained more fans through their new hit song Bouncy. That is why I’m not surprised I get a lot of requests to feature them in my perfume series. So what perfumes does Ateez use?

Answer: These are all gathered from their interviews, live streams, video fan calls, fan meetings, eagle-eyed Atinys who spot their stuff from every photo/video, and other online content.

What does Ateez smell like?
SEONGHWA PERFUMES
♥ YSL Black Opium – This was one of my college perfumes. For me, this is a very vanilla scent with a hint of jasmine and patchouli. The dry-down has a hint of coffee and almond but I smell more almond than coffee.

♥ YSL Black Opium Glitter – On February 9, 2025, Seonghwa did a livestream where he unboxed his new perfume and could not stop sniffing himself throughout the live. I’m not familiar with this one, unlike the Black Opium which was my college perfume. This Glitter version is said to have a marshmallow musk scent with the creaminess of dark coffee, vanilla bourbon, and orange flower.
You can buy this in Ulta for $130. So far this is not yet available in the Philippines.
♥ LUSH The Comforter Body Spray – Sweet, cozy, and addicting, The Comforter wraps you in a burst of blackcurrant and creamy vanilla that feels like a warm hug. It’s playful and comforting—perfect for days when you want your scent to feel soft, fruity, and mood-lifting.

♥ Febreze – Seems like Lee Know of Stray Kids is not the only idol that uses this air freshener as perfume. Hwa admitted to using this too. If you want to get this popular “kpop idol perfume” you can buy this in Shopee. Whether they’re joking or not, this air freshener smells good.
HONGJOONG PERFUME
♥ Creed Aventus – This is a sensual, audacious, contemporary scent. It contains black currant, pineapple, patchouli, jasmine, musk, and ambergris notes. S.Coups of Seventeen also uses this perfume.

YUNHO PERFUMES
♥ Diptyque Orpheon – In his December 2024 livestream, Yunho shared this perfume that he is currently using. Reviewers often describe Orphéon as a soft, powdery fragrance with a vintage feel. Some note a soapy quality from the jasmine, contributing to its fresh yet mature character. The scent is perceived as versatile, suitable for both daytime and evening wear, and is appreciated for its subtle projection and longevity. However, individual experiences vary; some find it to be a near-skin scent with moderate longevity, while others report a more pronounced presence.

♥ Ferrari Light Essence – This perfume for men has a citrus scent with a hint of jasmine. Sounds like jasmine is a favorite scent among Ateez members. This reminds me of the popular Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue, but an intense version.

YEOSANG PERFUMES
Just like Yunho above, Yeosang also uses the Ferrari Light Essence. He also mentioned in an old interview that he uses John Varvatos and Calvin Klein perfumes too. But until now, he hasn’t revealed which variant of those perfume brands he uses.
♥ Frederic Malle Eau de Magnolia – In their interview with GQ about 10 things they can’t live without, Yeosang showed this perfume and mentioned it was a gift from a friend. He sprayed it into the air like a mist so the members could smell it. Almost everyone said it’s strong, while San said it’s like a flower and orange. And he was right, this is a citrus and floral perfume. Sharp citrus opening of the bergamot. Very green magnolias. The way the citrus and florals blend results in a smell similar to that upon walking into a Lush store.

♥ Tom Ford F*cking Fabulous – On his January 22, 2025 live, Yeosang shared this perfume saying he has two bottles. Bold and unapologetic, this scent lives up to its name with its powerful blend of leather, almond, and orris root.
It is available in Bergdorf Goodman for $615. You can also buy it in Rustans, Tom Ford Beauty in Lazada, and a 2ml decant in Shopee.
♥ Jo Malone Blackberry & Bay – Blackberry & Bay balances juicy, tart blackberry with the fresh greenness of bay leaves, creating a scent that’s both bright and slightly wild. It’s crisp, playful, and effortlessly chic—perfect for anyone who loves a fruity fragrance with a clean, natural edge.

♥ Diptyque Eau des Sens – Eau des Sens is a vibrant, luminous fragrance that blends orange blossom, bitter orange, and soft spices for a scent that feels warm yet sparkling. It’s fresh, bright, and subtly sensual—perfect for someone who loves a clean citrus perfume with a unique twist.

SAN PERFUMES
♥ Diptyque Tam Dao – This perfume is for both men and women and it’s a very woody scent. The sandalwood and cedar are quite heavy. That’s all I can say since it’s not my kind of scent. Jay of Enhypen also uses this perfume.

♥ Tom Ford Black Orchid – I remember trying this perfume in Sephora. It’s a complex scent, warm spicy, sharp, and earthy but with chocolate dry down. It can be nauseating for some. This is an acquired taste.

♥ Celine Nightclubbing – San showed this in the GQ interview about 10 things they can’t live without. He mentioned that this perfume is sexy, and smells like Vanilla, and Whiskey. While Hongjoong mentioned it’s a night scent. In its Fragrantica, it only has a few notes. Reviewers said it smells like a work of art, smoky and powdery.

MINGI PERFUMES
♥ Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt – This is a popular scent among kpop idols and I get it. This is my personal favorite from Jo Malone too. And Yeonjun of TxT uses this too. It has a fresh sea salt scent with notes of woody sage that create a well-rounded fragrance that can be enjoyed by everyone. The sillage and longevity are mediocre though.

♥ Chanel Allure Homme Sport Eau Extrem – This is a typical masculine perfume, aromatic, woody, and fresh like citrus but a little minty.

♥ SW19 Twilight – In his solo Marie Claire Korea interview where he showed his 10 favorite items, Mingi mentioned that he’s been using Killian and Saint Laurent perfumes lately. He didn’t mention specifically which perfumes from those brands he uses, but he said Killian is too heavy, while Saint Laurent is a bit light. And this one from SW1 is kinda in between. It is musky with orange notes.

WOOYOUNG PERFUMES
♥ Tom Ford Black Orchid – Just like San, Wooyoung is also using this perfume.
♥ Diptyque Philosykos – Another perfume that is popular among kpop idols and also in my collection. Fun Fact: Jin of BTS and Mingyu of SEVENTEEN also use this perfume. It smells like fig leaf (the most potent smell for me), a bit woody, and coconut. It comes in 2 versions: Eau De Toilette and Eau De Parfum. Besides the longevity, the only difference between the two versions is the EDP smells more creamy coconut.

♥ Louis Vuitton On The Beach – On Wooyoung’s 20241214 POP Live, he shared that this is the perfume he’s currently using. It has a vibrant, citrusy unisex fragrance inspired by sunny coastal escapes. Perfect for summer, this fragrance captures the feeling of a sunlit beach walk, blending refreshing and comforting notes. Its moderate longevity and sillage make it an ideal daytime scent for casual outings or vacations. You can buy a full bottle from the Louis Vuitton stores near you. But you can buy a decant in Shopee to test before committing to a full bottle.
♥ Diptyque L’Ombre Dans L’Eau—I have this perfume in my collection, and The8 of SEVENTEEN uses it, too. I bought this immediately after smelling the Diptyque Baies candle. I Googled if they have a perfume counterpart of that cult fave candle, and a lot of people recommended this perfume. It’s true; they do smell alike. For me, the berry note is very prominent with a hint of floral, but overall, this is a fruity scent.

♥ Diptyque Tam Dao – Wooyoung and San are really close and Diptyque boys. Again, Wooyoung is using a perfume the same that San uses as mentioned above.
♥ Diptyque Fleur de Peau – This one is my favorite Diptyque perfume and is often sold out in Manila. You can read my full review here. This is a tribute to the mythical love between Psyche and Eros. It is very musky and powdery with a hint of iris and rose, with a little bit of wood and pink pepper. It lasts all day with me. In my opinion, among all the Diptyque perfumes, this one is the safest blind buy.

♥ Dior Sauvage – This is a popular perfume not just among male kpop idols but also with almost the entire male population. This and Versace Eros is always someone’s husband, boyfriend, and dad’s perfume. According to Fragnatica.com, this is “the ultimate masculine fragrance”. Jay of Enhypen, Han of Stray Kids, and Vernon of SEVENTEEN are using this too. For the scent, it is classy, crisp, spicy, clean, warm & uplifting. Top notes of Sichuan pepper & Calabrian bergamot. Heart notes of geranium, lavender, elemi, pink pepper, vetiver & patchouli. Base notes of cedar, labdanum & ambroxan. Recommended for spring or summer wear.

It’s gentle, comforting, and effortlessly elegant—perfect for days when you want to smell like pure serenity.

♥ Diptyque Do Son – It’s a true tuberose scent with white floral. It’s truly a green scent, almost herbal. It’s quite pleasing.
