  1. Origin of IKEA’s name

Ever wonder why IKEA is the name of this shopping center? If you look back at its history, the Swedish-founded multinational company that sells home accessories, kitchen appliances, and furniture ready-to-assemble, was founded in 1943 in Sweden. IKEA was founded by Ingvar Kamprad, a 17-year-old carpenter.

The company was then named by him using an acronym that consisted of his initials. The letters IKEA’s first two letters, ‘I” and ’K’ stand for Ingvar Kamprad. While the letters E’ and ‘A’ stand for Elmtaryd or Agunnaryd, Elmtaryd refers to the farm where the founder grew up. Agunnaryd, on the other hand is his hometown in Smaland (Southern Sweden).

  1. IKEA own Bistro

IKEA Tebrau has an in-house bistro that serves delicious Swedish delicacies. This bistro isn’t like other bistros that serve alcohol. Instead, it offers Halal certified snacks, grubs and makes for a quick meal.

IKEA has banned sugary fizzy drinks from its restaurant in order to promote healthy living. They are proud to announce that they have replaced the limited Pepsi and 7Up by a healthier fruit juice with half the sugar.

This beverage, also known as Nordic Fruit Water is made with real fruit slices. It’s healthier than sugary fizzy drinks. IKEA offers a variety of fruits that can be added to this drink, including raspberry, lemon, and lingonberry. You know what else? You can get a refill of Nordic Fruit Water for no cost! !

IKEA’s Soft Serve is available at a reasonable RM1 each cone. This sweet, smooth, and icy dessert will cool you down, providing some cool moments.

IKEA replaced its Vanilla Ice-Cream soft serve with soya, which is plant-based, gluten-free, and dairy-free, in order to be more considerate of vegan food. If you are looking for something sweet, there are options of frogurt that contains natural fruit jams.
