What’s the Proper Way to Wear a Tactical Belt?

Tactical bets can be functional or fashionable. Many people wear belts to hold their guns, weapons, or other gear. But some people simply like how the belts look and wear them as a fashion accessory.

Is there a wrong and right way to wear a tactical belt? Keep reading to learn about the different types of tactical belts and how to wear them properly.

Why Wear a Tactical Belt?

Military and police officers wear tactical belts to hold some of the necessary items to perform their job. Police officers often carry their guns in a holster on their hip using a tactical belt. This keeps the gun in easy reach of the officer while keeping it safe from others.

Flashlights, tasers, and nightsticks can also be found on an officer’s tactical belt.

However, you don’t need to be in law enforcement to sport a tactical belt. Hikers commonly use them to carry the gear necessary for their trek. The belts are also used by individuals who choose to conceal-carry a weapon.

The versatile belts can be worn as an everyday accessory instead of a regular belt. Tactical belts are preferred by many due to their durability and comfort. Tactical belts are heavy-duty with triple-reinforced stitching.

The belt could hold anywhere from 15 pounds to triple-digit weight, depending on the belt type.

Types of Tactical Belts

What are the different types of tactical belts?

  • Trainer belts: The trainer tactical belt is used by professionals in law enforcement or the military to hold their gear. The belts have the capacity to hold over 1000 pounds.
  • Rigger’s belts: The rigger’s tactical belt is for rappelling or climbing.
  • Gun belts: Tactical gun belts make it easy to carry a concealed weapon.
  • Duty belts: Tactical duty belts are lighter than heavy-duty tactical belts but are still strong enough to carry your gear.

Proper Way to Wear It

Tactical belts can have the same hook and loop style as traditional belts. There are also quick-cinch tactical belts with snap buckles. There are proper ways to wear both.

Hook and loop belt

The hook and look belt may be the most familiar type of tactical belt. The belt threads through the pant loops and then through the buckle. The prong of the belt buckle goes into the corresponding hole in the belt that’s a comfortable fit.

The extra end of the belt is secured in one of the loops on the pants.

Snap buckle belt

The snap buckle belt is looped through the pants like the hook and loop belt. Each end of the buckle has attachments called the ‘male’ and ‘female’ parts. The ‘male’ part is inserted into the ‘female’ part until the belt makes an audible snapping noise.

Tactical belts can be worn with pants that don’t have loops. However, the belt won’t be as secure, possibly creating a wardrobe malfunction moment.

Belts have a long history, dating back to at least 1000 BC, but many have gone out of style. One of the few versions that have always been timeless is the tactical belt, and it remains one of the most popular types of belts today.
