Banana clips are the perfect way to add volume, texture and body to your hair. They’re also great for putting up in a bun or ponytail. You can use them on all types of hair, from straight to curly, thick to thin and everything in between.
Bananas are one of the most versatile styling tools around, so it’s no surprise that they are also one of the most popular styles for naturalistas. From everyday looks to special occasions, banana clips for hair can be used in a wide variety of ways. Here are some ideas:
1. The French Braid
The French braid is an attractive way to wear your hair up, and it’s great for creating a voluminous style that looks like you spent hours on your hair. To create this style, start by braiding about two inches of hair back from your scalp. Then take one strand of hair and cross it over itself, then cross it under itself and repeat until you have formed a big ring right at the base of your head. The first is a classic, low-maintenance style that’s perfect for a lazy weekend or night out with friends. We used our favorite styling product, Big Sexy Hair Mousse, to create bouncy beachy waves and use the Leave-In Conditioner for extra softness when we were finished.
The second look is a little more complex but still easy to achieve. This style uses styling gels and mousse to create big, fluffy waves that fall into your face in all the right places. The key here is using your fingers or a comb to scrunch and add volume where needed — not much else!
2. The Bun
If you like the look of braids but want something simpler, try this variation on the bun. It’s similar to the French braid in that you start with two strands of hair braided together at the base of your head, but instead of crossing those strands over themselves, they go under each other and then come out again at the top of your head where they are twisted together with one loop going over your ear.The first style features a long, loose braid. This is a great option if you want to wear your hair down but want to keep it out of your face. It also works well with shorter layers or bangs that need some extra support.
The second style has a partial banana clip attached to each side of the braid so that it creates one giant banana clip in the front and two smaller ones in the back for a more subtle look.
3. The Banana High Bun
This high bun is one of my favorites! The curls are loose and bouncy, but also super soft and manageable. I love how this style adds volume to my hair and keeps it out of my face while still being super pretty! You can easily wear this look all day long or even into the evening if you want to add an extra touch of glamour with some jewelry or a headband.Take a banana clip and put it onto the ends of your strands. You can use any style or color of banana clip you like. If you have long hair, you may want to wrap your hair around the banana clips as well so that it does not slip off easily.
Once you have your style set, just sit back and relax!
