There’s a reason why Jimin is called a “brand king”. Products he was seen using sold out fast, just like the lip balm he was seen using in the 2020 MTV VMAs behind-the-scenes shoot. After the ARMYs found out what it was, it immediately sold out everywhere. But just because Jimin used it, is it worth buying? Is it really good? Scroll down to read my Mentholatum Water Lip Tone Up CC Review and where to buy it.
WHAT IS IT?
Rohto Mentholatum Water Lip Tone Up CC Review is more than just a lip balm, it’s a tone-up lip tint with a subtle rouge tint that color-corrects the lips while providing hydrating care. It also has SPF 20 PA++ to protect lips from UV rays and prevent rough lips.
Notable Ingredients
It contains jojoba seed oil and olive oil to moisturize skin, and Vitamin E and a Vitamin E derivative to nourish lips. You can read its full ingredient analysis in Inci Decoder.
PERFORMANCE
APPLICATION: I actually use this day and night as the last step to my skincare routine to keep my lips from drying.
SCENT: No scent or flavor at all. It doesn’t even have that “masking fragrance” scent.
PACKAGING: It is light and small enough to fit any pouches. And it is retractable.
MY EXPERIENCE
Just like most Japanese brand lip balms I used, I was expecting this to feel thick, greasy, and tacky but the Rohto Mentholatum Water Lip Tone Up CC isn’t like that at all. It feels light on the lips yet it leaves my lips moisturized with a sheer tint that looks natural like Jimin’s. However, if you have truly dry lips like it’s almost peeling then this is not the lip balm for you. It is not moisturizing enough for that.
Overall, I love using the Rohto Mentholatum Water Lip Tone Up CC every day. It is perfect for someone like me who hates thick glossy balms plus it contains SPF. I find it comfortable under a face mask and it doesn’t smudge compared to other brands. Lastly, it’s also affordable.
