A few of the major reasons that people don’t dress up for their every day becomes of time and budget. These two constraints can make finding your personal style feel more difficult than it is. The first step to finding your signature style is to do some research (the fun kind). Scroll through popular social media apps like Instagram, Pinterest, and Facebook for styles you love. Save and screenshot photos that you love of styles you can see yourself wearing.

Next, you’ll create your dream wardrobe board. Take a good look at all your favorite styles. What do they have in common? Consider the different styles represented and which you are most drawn to. Pinpoint what you truly love about all these different photos. Then you should look in your closet! This is the fun part. What is represented from your dream wardrobe, what no longer suits you, and which pieces make you feel confident? Go through your existing clothes and sort them out. Make a pile for your new wardrobe and one pile to give away or sell.

After this, you’ll want to take a look at your jewelry. What do you typically like to wear? Are you a fan of rings or necklaces? Do you like minimalistic pieces or dramatic accents? Do you prefer to wear gold vermeil or Sterling silver? Again, look over what you have and sort out your favorites. You can use what you already have to carve out your signature style.

One of the biggest things to keep in mind when you are creating your signature style is that it takes time. Don’t rush to purchase items instead make a list of must-have items you feel your closet is missing. You can check back on this list whenever you make a purchase to ensure you are staying within the lines of your must-haves. This can help you narrow your focus when shopping so that you don’t make purchases you’ll regret. Developing your personal style is a lifelong process and can change for so many reasons. The most important thing to remember is that fashion is about having fun and feeling confident. Don’t forget to enjoy the process!
