dental teeth smile

The minute you lose your tooth, it affects your appearance, oral health, chewing, and smile. As you continue having a gap, it affects your teeth’ alignment.  Luckily a Campbell tooth replacement can help restore your smile and enjoy your oral health.

When you visit Ueno Center Dental Specialists, your doctor will take you through the various options for your tooth replacement to help you choose the best option for yourself. These options include:

Removable partial dentures

The removable dentures are of different materials like flexible nylon with clasps of the same color as your gum. Another material used is acrylic base strengthened by a cobalt chrome metal framework. The clip is attached to your natural teeth to support the denture.

Tooth-supported Bridge

A tooth-supported bridge is supported by your existing teeth instead of placing two implants into your teeth. The crown is placed on your teeth next to your missing tooth and cemented into place.

Flipper

A flipper is a temporary partial denture, and it flips in and out of position without clipping on your existing denture, therefore, no clips are required. This type of denture is so delicate, so you cannot use it to chew food, remove it before eating.

Your doctor may advise you to go for a permanent denture known as a dental implant.

A dental implant is permanent. You do not need to remove it as you eat your food and clean your teeth. Before your doctor recommends you for this procedure, he will conduct a physical examination to check if you have the bone and space needed to fit in the tooth implant. Your dentist may request you go for an X-ray and also discuss with you a surgery plan.

Dental implant procedure

During the first phase, your doctor will numb your mouth with anesthesia to allow the process to go on without pain. Your doctor will then make an incision in your gum and place the tooth root implant into your jawbone in your missing tooth’ position. Your doctor will then stitch the gum over the implant to keep it covered.

After the first phase, your doctor will give you time to heal before your next appointment. During this time, your bone will grow around the implant and make it healthy, helping it to remain in position.  During the second phase, your doctor will assess if your implant is ready. He will place an abutment over the post section of the implant.

In the third phase, your doctor checks if your gum has recovered. Your dentist will make an impression of your tooth, out of which a custom replacement tooth known as the crown will be created and fixed on the abutment.

After the procedure, you may notice some swelling, bruising, pain, and minor bleeding, therefore, your doctor may prescribe over-the-counter medications. Your dentist may also recommend eating soft food, warm soup, and cold foods to continue with your healing processes.
