Do you love a subtle glowy skin? Because I do! Luckily, while browsing through Instagram, I found this Filipino beauty brand called “Skin Potions” that sells finishing powder that promises “to give your skin a lit from within”. Of course, I bought it immediately. But did I ended up loving it? Read my Skin Potions Glowdust review to know more!
It doesn't cake and does not look like I am wearing heavy makeup. It's also silky and melts on to my skin. However, because of those little shimmers, if you have large pores or uneven texture, this product will highlight those. But basing on the price and quality, it's one of the best powders I tried.
It doesn't cake.
It makes the skin look smooth with a subtle glow.
The packaging leaks.
Can highlight large pores or uneven skin texture.
WHAT IS IT?
Glowdust claims to be a luminous finishing powder that gives your skin a lit from within. The loose mineral powder formula sets and enhances your makeup and controls oil for long-lasting wear. The silky smooth consistency lets you stay matte (but not flat), brightens and evens out your skin tone, and gives you an instant glow. The weightless texture blends effortlessly and is totally comfortable to wear.
Just like most finishing powders, it comes in a plastic jar but the cover inside is not made of plastic with holes as we could see in Laura Mercier or MAC finishing powders, instead, the middle has a net which I find easy for makeup brushes to pick up the powder. However, I noticed when I took out the Glowdust out of the box, some powders leaked out of the jar despite having a sticker seal. And when I removed the sticker seal, the powder leaks out more inside my bag! So I took out one of my unused extra puffs and used it as extra cover. Luckily it fits so it doesn’t leak anymore.
It has the exact same scent as Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Finishing Powder. For those who haven’t tried that product either, it smells a little like Playdoh. But it doesn’t bother me because it goes away immediately. The scent doesn’t stick on the face, that or I just became immune to it.
I prefer yo use a puff for applying the Glowdust, but both the brush, puff and even a beauty blender works really well. So use whatever you want. They also come in 3 shades called Extra, Sizzle, and Drama (from lightest to darkest). But despite having different shades, they are quite translucent. Actually, if you have morena skin like me, you can actually use all 3 shades just fine.
But what made me love this Skin Potions Glowdust translucent powder is how it really makes my skin look smooth with a subtle glow. It doesn’t cake and does not look like I am wearing heavy makeup. It’s like the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Finishing Powder, silky and melts on to my skin. But unlike Fenty, it doesn’t oxidize. However, because of those little shimmers, if you have large pores or uneven texture, this product will highlight those. But basing on the price and quality, it’s one of the best powders I tried.
