I have tried many setting powders from those with sebum control to sun protection. But admittedly, I only tried Korean-brand setting powders until this one. I love the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Foundation, so did I end up loving their setting powder too? Scroll down to read my Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Setting Powder review to know my honest thoughts about this product.
WHAT IS IT?
Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Setting Powder is a superfine, insanely silky loose powder that sets and extends makeup wear, working all day to blur the look of pores, fine lines, and imperfections for a hyper-smooth filter.
It is said that Rihanna was obsessed with creating a setting powder for everyone that wouldn’t flashback, so Pro Filt’r was born in 8 sheer versatile shades to melt into your unique skin tone, letting you set, perfect, and brighten without a trace. And with its light-as-air blend of mattifying powders that won’t cake or settle, Pro Filt’r lets minimize shine while letting skin look like skin. So we can—for once—get matte, get even, and keep your photo-ready finish on lock.
PACKAGING
As expected from Fenty Beauty, it has sleek packaging that looks expensive. Well, their products aren’t exactly cheap so elegant-looking packaging is a must. The Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Setting Powder comes in a puff and the holes in the cover are in the “FB” pattern.
SCENT
It has a scent that resembles their soft matte foundation mixed with playdoh. I didn’t like it but I don’t hate it. I got used to it eventually.
MY EXPERIENCE
I am going to say this now, Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Setting Powder is ONE OF THE BEST SETTING POWDERS I TRIED! It does really feel silky and melts onto my skin. It doesn’t cake. It looks exactly like my natural skin but flawless like it was photoshopped IRL. It also keeps my makeup stay longer despite having oily skin while living in a humid country.
However, if you’re going to buy their tinted powders, make sure to get those that are one shade lighter than your actual skin tone. Because they tend to get darker. Like their foundation, these setting powders also oxidize. I always get the “Honey” shades in Maybelline, L’Oreal, and other western brands, but Fenty Beauty’s version of the honey shade is too dark and orange for my actual skin tone. I wish I just bought the Butter or Banana shade instead.
