Glossier Bubblewrap Eye + Lip Plumping Cream Review

Will it really replace your lip balm and eye cream?

glossier bubblewrap review | style vanity

Did you know you can use your eye cream on your lips? It’s actually one of the many secrets of some professional makeup artists. They use eye cream on their model’s lips to make it more nourish, moisturize, and plump. I heard they find it more effective than lip balms. But as someone who actually tried it, believe me when I say, doing it is not as fun as using a lip balm. I don’t know about other eye creams like those made with fruit like the Kiehl’s Avocado Creamy Eye Treatment, but the eye cream that I used have this icky cream taste that sticks on the lips. Now that Glossier created a 2-in-1 product that can be used on both lips and eyes, it makes me wonder, will it replace our lip balms and eye creams? Is it really worth it? Keep reading my Glossier Bubblewrap review to learn more.

VERDICT
MY THOUGHTS
It provides immediate hydration and moisture making your undereyes and lips feel smooth and soft. But I'm not really that impressed with the Glossier Bubblewrap. It doesn't really give a significant improvement as an eye cream, and too expensive for a mediocre lip balm.
PROS
Non-sticky
Non-greasy
Lightweight
CONS
I never notice its plumping claims.
Too basic

WHAT IS IT?

According to Glossier’s website, Bubblewrap will help your undereyes and lips appear fresh, smooth, and hydrated: today, and over time. They also claim that their light-as-silk, the water-in-oil emulsion doesn’t feel sticky or pill under makeup.

INGREDIENTS

The Bubblewrap comes from a combination of some of nature’s strongest hydrators (hyaluronic acid, squalane, avocado oil), antioxidant-rich blueberry extract, and a unique, featherweight texture that delivers these key ingredients where and when you need them the most. You can read its full ingredient analysis in Skin Carisma.

PERFORMANCE

APPLICATION: Each morning and night, after cleansing and before moisturizing, use your ring finger to gently press into the area around eyes and onto lips. Use one pump for under eyes, and one pump for lips. But I have a small face, so I just use half a pump for both my lips and undereyes.

PACKAGING: Some people find Bubblewrap packaging not as cute or photogenic as the other Glossier products. Personally, I find it practical and travel-friendly. It comes in a 22 ml bottle pump bottle that dispenses just the right amount of product. And since this is an eye and lip product, I also find the packaging very hygienic as well. Because one of the reasons there aren’t many eye and lip products in the market is because it can be unhygienic, like a double-dipping thing with salsas.

SCENT: It has a generic eye cream scent.

TEXTURE & FORMULA: One thing you’ll first notice with Glossier Bubblewrap is their lightweight formula —the brand even describes its texture as “featherweight,” and that’s pretty accurate. It is also non-greasy and non-sticky which I really like.

MY EXPERIENCE

Despite being lightweight, non-greasy, and non-sticky, I’m not really that impressed with this product. I’ve used products like those before, there are many “featherweight” eye creams in the Asian beauty market already like my Holy Grail Purito Centella Green Level Eye Cream. But don’t get me wrong, I like this product. It’s small, so I can put this in my bag and bring this anywhere when I want my undereyes especially my lips to be moisturized.

glossier bubblewrap review

As an eye cream, I find it really basic. It’s good for those people in their early 20’s that don’t need strong ingredients yet. I also read from Gel Cream that she’s prone to malia, but this product didn’t give her any.

As a lip balm, I find it really moisturizing and hydrating just like any lip balms. However, if you hate the sticky and greasy textures of lip balms like me, then you’ll love using this on your lips. After it set in a few seconds, I literally feel nothing was on my lips yet it feels so soft and smooth.

As for its plumping claims, I didn’t notice anything. Neither on my eyes or my lips. Although, it will swiftly prep your skin for makeup.

So to answer my question above, will it replace eye creams and lip balms? The answer is no. And for the record, I only bought this product to write this Glossier Bubblewrap review, so will I repurchase it? Maybe. If it is on sale or I have a promo code. I can live without this. But you can use this to prepare for your casting at modeling agencies in Sydney with subtle cosmetics such as Glossier’s Bubblewrap eye cream

NOTE: I have oily skin, so the moisture that this product provides is already enough for me. But I couldn’t say if it is the same for those with dry skin.

See? Not so much shine.
