Create the Perfect Bridal Lingerie Ensemble

Designing your perfect bridal lingerie could be a daunting experience, especially if you have never before shopped for lingerie sets. Thankfully, the factors to be considered are quite basic.

Colours

Is the material of your wedding dress thin or flimsy? If so, you might want to go for a colour that goes seamlessly with your skin tone. Usually, this means neutral colours such as beige, cream or tan, but you can always opt for bolder colours if your wedding dress has thicker material.

It is generally safer to go with traditional colours for your bridal lingerie, but remember that you can always go wild with colour choices for your wedding night lingerie!

Material

Lace lingerie undoubtedly looks fancy, elegant and beautiful, but would it be comfortable for you throughout the entire wedding ceremony and for longer still afterwards?

Aim for materials that are comfortable, and always remember that the focus for your bridal attire is still your wedding dress.

Bras

Depending on the size of your bust, you might need to wear a padded bra underneath your wedding gown for proper support or simply to fill up the bodice of your gown. This is usually applicable for traditional wedding gowns with covered backs and thick materials.

Unlike traditional wedding gown designs, however, many modern dresses are backless or strapless, so that bras are no longer a feasible option for most brides.

If you are wearing one of these modern gowns, you can opt for a strapless bra or have the bra cups sewn into your wedding gown.

Panties

Choose panties that will not scrunch up underneath your wedding dress, show any obvious panty lines or worse, be visible through your wedding gown. For a seamless experience, you can opt to wear g-strings or thongs, but that could be uncomfortable for some.

Corsets

Want to show off your hourglass figure? Nothing can enhance the shape of your waist more than a nicely fitted corset. Corsets can also provide additional support to your bust and enhance your cleavage – an awesome bonus to have!

Shapewear

It’s your special day. Why not consider providing a better definition to your body with shapewear that complements your body shape?

For some, this would mean wearing shapewear that covers the entire body, while for others it primarily aims to flatten the stomach area only.

You won’t regret having this flattering look when the results show up in the wedding photographs!

Garters

Your wedding garters can be kept as one of the wedding keepsakes, so you might want to personalise yours a little! Have your names or wedding dates sewn or embroidered into these fancy little lacey items.

Wear it just a little above your knees, safe in the knowledge that you’re wearing something to commemorate your special day.

Hosiery

Traditionally, brides wear a pantyhose that covers them from their waist down to their toes. However, if garters are included within the bridal lingerie set, knee-high pantyhose can be considered instead.

Of course, if you are wearing open-toed shoes, you might want to reconsider the stockings.

Wedding Night Garments

It’s your wedding night – go adventurous! You can wear a fancy bra with its matching lace thong, paired with thigh-high stockings and a garter belt. This popular combination will instantly make you a gorgeous goddess for the ecstatic groom!
