Hydrating + Moisturizng: Pyunkang Yul Moisture Cream Review

I am curious about the brand Pyunkang Yul for a while now. I’ve read mixed reviews about it but it is mostly positive. That is why I was thrilled when Go Bloom & Glow sent me a set which consists of a toner, ampoule, and a moisturizer. But if you’re reading my reviews for a while now, you’ll notice I don’t usually use products from the same brand at the same time especially when I’m reviewing it. I do that because I want to test if a product can work on its own. So I used the moisturizer first, and below is my Pyunkang Yul Moisture Cream review.

WHAT IS IT?

Pyunkang Yul Moisture Cream is a daily moisturizer for all skin types. It quenches the skin to make it soft and supple. It is formulated with Coptis Japonica Root Extract, a medicinal herb widely used in traditional oriental medicine. It locks in moisture, calms inflammation, and free from fragrance and artificial dyes. Lastly, it is rich in antioxidants. It is also free of paraben, sulfate, and alcohol. You can read its ingredient analysis in Skin Carisma.

PERFORMANCE

APPLICATION: To be used after cleansing and other hydrating products. Slather on an appropriate amount onto the face. Spread the cream all over and pat gently to aid absorption. Follow with sunscreen in the mornings and an eye cream in the evenings.

SCENT: It is unscented but it has the detectable “generic unscented beauty product” scent if you know what I mean.

PACKAGING: Since this is from a set, it is packaged in a signature Pyunkang Yul blue box. But the Moisture Cream comes in a blue glass jar and plastic cap. Nothing fancy about its design but it is nice and minimalist.

FORMULA: The reason I thought I’m going to hate this cream is that it looks like a generic white moisturizer that is too heavy and tacky for oily skin. But it is not! The Pyunkang Yul Moisture Cream is so lightweight, absorbs fast into the skin and definitely does not leave a tacky finish.

RESULT: The Pyunkang Yul Moisture Cream is lightweight and does not leave a tacky or a white cast finish but despite that, it’s so hydrating and moisturizing. This is my go-to moisturizer after masking to seal in all the good essence into my skin. Since a sheet mask is kinda slimy for my skin so this moisturizer is a good match for it. And the best part, my skin feels really smooth and kinda brightens whenever I apply it.

It does not have fancy schmancy claims, but that’s what I like about it. You can use it after with whatever serum, ampoule, or sheet mask and will not irritate your skin because it has good antioxidant ingredients only.

VERDICT

PROS: It is moisturizing and hydrating that leaves my skin smoother and brighter. It absorbs fast into the skin and does not leave a white cast or a tacky finish so all skin types could use this product. No fancy schmancy, gimmicky stuff, just the safest and necessary ingredients in it.

CONS: I honestly don’t see any cons, besides the price because this may be over some people’s moisturizer budget.
