I have been hearing about the Papa Recipe sheet mask ever since I started blogging about Asian skincare three years ago. Back then I wasn’t interested in sheet masks yet. I thought all of them are just moisturizing, better for those with dry skin only. Until I tried the one that immediately showed a significant result, my mind was changed. Some actually have more benefits than moisturizing! So when Liah Yoo posted in her Instagram that Papa Recipe (the original version) is the only sheet mask she trusts to use when she’s breaking out, I immediately look for it because I’m currently experiencing a breakout again. And I ended up not only buying one but also different variants. But did it live up to my expectations? Scroll down to read my Papa Recipe Bombee Rose Gold Honey Mask Pack review.
WHAT IS IT?
The Papa Recipe Bombee Rose Gold Honey Mask Pack is packed with 1000 ppm of honey extract and 1000 ppm of Rosa Damascena Flower Water to deliver intense moisture and nourishment to the skin. The honey and propolis extracts soothe skin irritation while helping to heal wounds faster. The added flower extracts, on the other hand, deliver much-needed vitamins to the skin. The lightweight, non-sticky essence sinks in with just a few pats, leaving the skin supple and glowing after just 20 minutes of use.
INGREDIENTS
According to its ingredient analysis in Skin Carisma, the Papa Recipe Bombee Rose Gold Honey Mask Pack contains Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, an acne-fighting ingredient with skin brightening benefits. It also contains Panthenol and Sodium Hyaluronate which promotes wound healing, good for those who extract their acne or uses exfoliators. It is safe for all skin types, and free of alcohol, silicone, and paraben.
PERFORMANCE
APPLICATION: After cleansing and toner, unfold the mask and smooth on to face. Leave on for 20-30 minutes. Remove the mask and discard. Gently pat in the remaining essence until fully absorbed.
SCENT: It does not smell like roses, but it smells sweet like candy. It reminds me of Fruitella chewy candy in strawberry flavor.
PACKAGING: Just like most sheet masks, it is packed in a foil packet. I do like its design with a cute honey pot, you already know their main ingredient. Also, this one comes in pink so you’ll know which variant you use.
FORMULA: The essence in this sheet mask is not that thick, which my oily skin loves. Also, the sheet has a bee-hive pattern in metallic gold in one side which will make you a little bit confusing if you’re a first time user. I Googled it and saw in a YouTube tutorial of some Korean shop that you put the plain white side on your face. The gold bee-hive is just for aesthetics.
RESULT: I was actually planning to use the original Bombee Honey Mask, not the Rose Gold version. But I think I like the pink color so much, my body unconsciously picked the one in pink packaging. I only notice it when I already teared up the pack. Anyway, I leave it on my face for 20 minutes, the sweet scent didn’t bother me even though I am “scent-sitive” and I didn’t feel any irritation. I also did use a rose quartz roller for 2-3 minutes before removing it.
After removing the sheet mask, I like that it doesn’t feel sticky or heavy on the skin. Though I didn’t notice anything besides my face looks dewy, at first. Because after a few minutes, my skin already absorbs the essence, I could see my skin not brighter, but glowing! Of course not literally, but you get what I’m saying, right? My skin looks like I just had that stem-cell facial I get from a derma clinic, and it also feels so smooth and soft. And luckily, I did use the Papa Recipe Bombee Rose Gold Honey Mask Pack because the next morning I had a spontaneous trip with my college friends. If you follow me on Instagram you probably saw my snaps, I look fresh ya’ll with only a tinted moisturizer on!
VERDICT
PROS: It is has a lightweight essence that is hydrating, moisturizing, and absorbs fast into the skin which makes this the perfect sheet mask in the morning. It made my skin look glowing like I had an expensive facial.
CONS: The sheet mask looks confusing at first on which side should be on top. Again, the gold one on top, the plain white side on your skin.
