Some of the products that truly helped me with my acne like the Mediheal Teatree Care Solution Mask and LGH Tea Tree 90 Essence contains, well you probably already guessed it, Tea Tree! And when I was doing a research about Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay, tee tree oil keeps being mentioned especially the one from The Body Shop. So obviously, I wanted to try it especially I know that ingredient really works but I wonder how it works as its own. Scroll down to read The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil review.
But first, what does Tea Tree Oil Really Do?
Tea tree oil is derived from the leaves of the tea tree, not to be confused with the unrelated common tea plant “tea tree” that is used to make black and green teas. The natural chemicals in tea tree oil can kill bacteria and fungus, and reduce allergic skin reactions. It can be applied to the skin topically for infections such as acne, fungal infections of the nail (onychomycosis), lice, scabies, athlete’s foot (tinea pedis), and ringworm. It is also used topically as a local antiseptic for cuts and abrasions, for burns, insect bites and stings, boils, vaginal infections, recurrent herpes labialis, toothache, infections of the mouth and nose, sore throat, and for ear infections such as otitis media and otitis externa. You can read more about it in WebMD.
WHAT IS IT?
The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil is a soothing and purifying oil that helps to target breakouts, remove impurities, and mattify skin without drying it out. It carries a clinically proven claim to give visibly clearer-looking skin in one week.
INGREDIENTS
Made with real tea tree leaves that were hand-harvested and steam-distilled within 12 hours to produce our purest oil. This powerful formula contains 15% tea tree oil concentrate which is a known anti-acne ingredient. This also contains Tocopherol (Vitamin E) which has an anti-aging benefit. You can read more about its ingredient analysis in Skin Carisma.
PERFORMANCE
APPLICATION: Apply directly to the skin using fingertips or a cotton bud. Or you can mix 2-3 drops of this in your preferred clay mask.
SCENT: I’m not really sure what tea tree actually smells like, but The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil smells really minty.
PACKAGING: The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil is simply packaged in a small bottle. It comes in 10ml and 20ml.
FORMULA: Despite the “oil” in its name, it doesn’t feel oily at all. It’s more like a minty water instead. It is lightweight and doesn’t feel greasy.
RESULT: The claim that it will give us users a “visibly clearer-looking skin in one week” is false! It didn’t vanish my pimples in just one week. It took at least two weeks or more, and if it is big, use something else. Something stronger like a benzoyl peroxide. But at least it is soothing, and if you use bentonite or kaolin clay weekly, you can add The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil in it to make your masking better and again, soothing.
VERDICT
PROS: It feels minty and soothing. You can also use this to DIY you clay mask. It’s anti-bacterial that help prevent acne.
CONS: When it comes to healing and curing, it doesn’t really work in one week.
