Benton is one of my favorite brands and I’m not just kissing up because I got picked to do the Benton Cacao Moist and Mild Toner review. I genuinely love the brand from the High Content Snail Bee Essence –the first ever Korean beauty product I ever tried– to the Aloe BHA Skin Toner that significantly reduced my blackheads. And if you could notice from the product names, Benton always have an interesting ingredient in each of their products, this time it’s the Cacao.
If cacao sounds familiar, it’s because it is also the main ingredient of chocolates. But its use as a beauty ingredient has been traced since the Mayan Civilization. It is rich in minerals and nutrients so it helps to nourish and moisturize the skin.
WHAT IS IT?
Benton Cacao Moist and Mild Toner is a lightweight and hydrating toner. It contains Cacao Extracts and Hyaluronic Acid, this toner replenishes moisture to the skin. This toner is recommended for:
Skin with a poor oil-water balance
Oily skin that needs a light product
Skin that wants a clear skin tone with a mild hydrating product
Dull skin lacking nourishment
Skin sensitive to harmful chemicals and external stressors
Dehydrated and tight skin
It has various botanical extracts in the toner further help to keep skin smooth such as Madecassoside and Sodium Hyaluronate which both promotes wound healing. It also contains Salix Nigra (Willow) Bark Extract and Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract which are acne-fighting ingredients. You can read the rest of its ingredients in this CosDNA Analysis.
APPLICATION: After cleansing, apply adequate amount on your skin using a cotton pad. But this is a hydrating toner, I prefer to apply this using my hands by chok chok or patting motion until my skin fully absorbed it. Or better, use the 7 Skin Method.
SCENT: This product is unscented, and I really did not detect any scent from this product while applying it.
PACKAGING: It is packaged in a sturdy plastic bottle. It’s easy to dispense product from it, and I love the light pink design especially the cacao illustrations. And this product is available in 150ml.
FORMULA: It really does have a lightweight formula. The texture is almost like water, and it feels really moisturizing and hydrating without the tacky feeling. It absorbs well into the skin too.
RESULT: I have oily and acne-prone skin, and what I’ve learned from getting rid of my acne is that using hydrating products lessens and prevents them, instead of forcing to dry them. The Benton Cacao Moist and Mild Toner didn’t just moisturize my skin but it also hydrates so much without any heavy or tacky feeling. It contains Hyaluronic Acid that works to restore and hydrate the skin, which is perfect to pair with my daily facial cleanser that contains salicylic acid that dissolves dead skin cells and oil. (ED Note: Those with acne-prone skin should use a cleanser with salicylic acid.) Salicylic Acid can dry the skin, so it’s really important you hydrate after it.
I’ve used the Cacao Moist and Mild Toner for around 3 weeks, and I always apply 3-5 layers of this toner, which kinda feels refreshing. In the morning after, I wake up with a brighter and plumper skin. And with consecutive use, I actually ended up with smoother looking skin!
I actually shared this with my mom for a week. She has dry and sensitive skin, she didn’t have many words to describe what she thinks but she says she likes how light and hydrating it is. She also mentioned that her skin feels so soft.
PROS: It’s lightweight, not tacky yet moisturizing, and hydrating. It absorbs well into the skin, suits all skin types, free of artificial fragrance, alcohol-free, and will really give you a brighter and smooth looking skin with consecutive use.
CONS: I didn’t really encounter any cons. You can use this all year long!
