I know some of you already know I suffered from an acne breakout, although some were already gone and controlled thanks to my skincare routine, I still kinda suffer from uneven skin texture left because of acne scars. I have a few noticeable pores on my left cheek, that is why I’m always on a hunt for a good primer that will not only reduce the appearance of my pores but also will make my makeup last longer in the Philippines’ hot and humid weather. Admittedly, I already found it with J.One Jelly Pack but it’s too pricey so while I’m enjoying it, I’m still looking for an affordable alternative. Until I stumble upon this one from my go-to affordable beauty brand. Did it live up to my expectations or just mediocre? Scroll down to read my Maybelline Baby Pore Skin Eraser review.
WHAT IS IT?
Maybelline Baby Skin Pore Eraser is a pore-minimizing primer with a matte finish. It is super soft, lightweight, transparent gel nourishes and moisturizes. It claims to soften and smoothen complexion with a silicone elastomer, emollient, and silica formula with added cherry extract; delivers a radiant, silky, youthful look; non-comedogenic, fragrance-free. You read about its ingredients in this CosDNA Analysis.
APPLICATION: Apply a thin layer to your skin before applying your makeup such as foundation or concealer. Can be worn with or without a moisturizer.
SCENT: I don’t detect any scent.
PACKAGING: Maybelline Baby Skin Pore is packaged in a tube with a cute baby blue and pink prints. The pointy opening makes it easy to dispense the product. Some come in a plastic box while some were just in a carton board and plastic that hangs in a drugstore counter.
TEXTURE: It has a thick gel yet rough formula. It’s really like a silicone. But it absorbs quickly into my skin and mattifies it. Although, it is not as lightweight as I thought.
RESULT: It’s really hard for me to write this part. I honestly too almost an hour to write these first two lines. I really want to like this product since Maybelline has a good track record with me especially their latest liquid lipstick. But this Baby Skin Pore Eraser did nothing for me, or my expectations were just too high because of many good reviews I’d read before purchasing this. It practically did not make my makeup last longer, it didn’t control my oil as expected, although my pores made it less noticeable and made my skin matte, I don’t recommend this for those with really huge pores. This is ideal for those with only minimal flaws. And I also feel like this was the product that causes my recent breakout. So it’s still the J.One Jelly Pack for me despite the price.
PROS: It mattifies and make the pores less noticeable but not significantly. This is for those with minor flaws only. Being fragrance-free is a plus too.
CONS: Effect does not last that long. And even though it claims to be non-comedogenic, it will still break you out if you have silicone allergy.
