Did you know that “contour makeup” is one of the biggest scams in the beauty industry? Contour makeup, because of the demand, it’s pricier than regular foundations, concealers, and even lipsticks. But actually, you don’t really need to pay extra for a contouring stick or compact, in fact, they’re just more pigmented versions of your regular foundation and concealers. You can buy just get those products in two or three shades darker than your actual shade and you have a contour makeup! And that’s exactly what I did when I was shopping in Maybelline. Their contour stick costs almost Php500 that comes with a mediocre shimmery highlighter, (I have better highlighters at home) while this one only cost Php399! But is my makeup hack worth it? Scroll down to read my Maybelline Stay Fit Foundation Stick review.
One more thing, if someone gifted you a foundation or concealer that is darker than your skin tone you can use it for contouring, it saves you money!
WHAT IS IT?
Maybelline Stay Fit Foundation Stick claims to be a mattifying powder in a stick! It is an oil-absorbing powder foundation stick that delivers a natural matte finish for a smooth and even-looking skin. It also claims your pores will look minimized and will stay shine-free for ten hours. This oil-absorbing foundation stick goes on creamy and blends into a natural matte finish.
SCENT: It claims to be fragrance-free but I think I can detect a slight powdery scent.
PACKAGING: It is packaged as is, no box but it is wrapped in plastic. The stick is sturdy and does not break the foundation when dropped. And as you could notice, it has a paler shade in the middle, it claims to be the one that controls the oil.
RESULT: This foundation has a medium coverage, while as a contour stick, the shade is quite good. The formula is smooth and easy to blend using a sponge or just your fingers, and yes, it does help with the oil control. It lasts a good amount of time as well. The white “oil-control” in the middle does not affect the overall shade, so you don’t need to worry about it. But don’t expect this will be easy to use to contour your nose because this is after all not designed to be used a contour stick but its’s manageable.
PROS: Non-comedogenic, suitable for sensitive skin, easy to blend, has a medium coverage but buildable, and lasts long.
CONS: I don’t really see any cons but I do use it as a contour stick instead of a foundation.
