Hit Or Miss: Etude House Play 101 Stick Contour Duo Review

Back in the day, contouring is not something you would do for your everyday makeup but it seems like, after the rise of the Kardashians, contouring has been an everyday makeup thing for most people. Many brands launch their own contour kits, even Kim Kardashian-West herself. One of the most popular here in Asia is the Play 101 Stick from the Korean brand Etude House, which is known for their cute packaging and famous Korean celebrity endorsers. But is it worth buying? Scroll down to read my Etude House Play 101 Stick Contour Duo review.

WHAT IS IT?

Etude House Play 101 Stick is a creamy contour duo that creates a look of the authentic dimensionality of the face. Nothing more, nothing less. You can read more about its ingredients in this CosDNA Analysis.

PERFORMANCE

APPLICATION: Apply the highlighting color on T-zone, cheekbones and the shade color on sides of the nose and below the jawline.

SCENT: It has no detectable scent except for a generic cream smell.

PACKAGING: It comes it a box that resembles the design of the contour stick, nothing cute which is unusual with Etude House but the stick is sturdy and the contour stick does not break easily even when dropped.

RESULT: First of all, what I like about this contour stick is it didn’t come with shimmer especially the highlighter. As something I would like to use for everyday makeup, the shimmer is not really something I like, it’s reserved for my night outs. The highlighter of this contour stick resembles a really pale concealer so it works on my brown skin however, I’m not sure it will be equally effective for those with whiter skin tone. While the shading/contour, is dark enough for white to medium brown skin tones, darker than the latter, I think this will not blend well.

The Etude House Play 101 Stick Contour Duo is easy to use and most especially easier to blend, you could just use your fingers! But it does not last long. If you have oily skin or lives in a humid country, this will only last a good one hour on your skin. In short, I’m disappointed with this product.

VERDICT

PROS: Easy to use, easy to blend, and easy to carry because of the design it will save space on your makeup bad. Lastly, it’s highly-pigmented.

CONS: It’s not long-lasting, especially for oily skin and humid weather.
