I use AHA products to exfoliate my skin and BHA to prevent my acne, so despite having an oily skin, my skin gets dry because of those products. So when Style Korean sent me Huxley products for review, I was so thrilled that they’re both moisturizing products that suit oily and acne-prone skin. I already wrote a review about the Cream Fresh & More last month, this time I’m posting my Huxley Essence Grab Water review.
What is it?
Huxley Essence Grab Water is refreshing watery gel essence that delivers long-lasting hydration and nourishment to the skin in need of protection against various environmental stressors; free radicals, pollutants, and moisture loss. And just like Cream Fresh & More, the Essence Grab Water is also made of a safe and certified-organic ingredient, Sahara’s prickly pear seed oil, which is full of skin-benefiting antioxidants, vitamin E, and linoleic acid. Acai berry, quinoa, and yerba mate provide additional antioxidants and nutrients while peppermint helps to cool. Lastly, it doesn’t have parabens, mineral oils or synthetic dyes.
Performance
APPLICATION: After cleansing and toning, apply a dime-sized amount of the Huxley Grab Water Essence to the face with gentle patting motions. Follow with the rest of the skincare routine or with a moisturizer.
SCENT: It smells like a sweet yet mild floral scent with a little hint of peppermint that oh-so-relaxing!
PACKAGING: As expected from Huxley, the packaging is minimal yet elegant like those cult-face Glossier brand. The bottle is made of glass with a plastic yet pippette. While the box has the same design as the Cream Fresh & More, which features a photo of the Sahara dessert.
Obviously, I love the minimalist design, but I have a little problem with the pipette. The essence is too thick for it so squeezing in and out the product is quite tricky. If you’ve used serums and other essences before, you might this is not the same because of its thick gel texture. But you’ll get used to it.
RESULTS: The first thing I notice when I first use the Essence Grab Water is that its texture is thicker than most essence I used, like the Benton High Content Snail Bee Essence. I had some difficulty with the pipette but the formula is really light and absorbs easily into the skin, perfect for those with oily and acne-prone skin. The second thing I noticed is that it kinda feels cool on the skin thanks to the peppermint which I love since it feels relaxing especially when you use this before going to sleep. I also find peppermint control oils on your skin. Lastly, I love that it fills and plumps skin. For a more intensive hydration, use this with Huxley Cream Fresh & More, they’re a perfect match!
However, I’m not recommending this product to those with dry skin. This is too light for that kind of skin type and contains alcohol. Instead, I recommend the Huxley Oil Essence: Essence-Like, Oil-Like (I know, this brand have peculiar product names!) which works like the Essence Grab Water, but it’s a perfectly balanced blend of oil and essence perfect formula for those with dry skin. If you have normal skin type, I think the Oil Essence best suited you more.
Verdict
PROS: It’s light and absorbs easily into the skin, perfect for those with oily and acne-prone skin. It also has peppermint which cools your skin and Sahara prickly pear seed oil which hydrates and plumps your skin.
CONS: It contains alcohol, which is actually helpful for those with acne-prone skin, but not for those with normal and dry skin types. For those, again, I recommend the Huxley Oil Essence: Essence-Like, Oil-Like. And it only hydrates and moisturized my skin. I didn’t see any other effects such as brightening nor healed my acne, which is something I’m not used to when it comes to a Korean brand essence.
Will I buy it? If it’s on sale, or included in a promo or packaged when I buy other Huxley products, I say, why not? Because personally, I prefer It’s Skin Formula 10 VB Effector because it didn’t just moisturized my skin, but also healed my acne. If you’re just looking for a good quality product to lock in moisture in your skin and keep it hydrated and NOTHING else, I say don’t mind what I’m saying. Huxley Essence Grab Water is a good hydrating product!
