Whenever I try a new product, I already have expectations with it because I usually read about it from other beauty bloggers. But when I was approached to write a Klairs Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop review, I honestly had no expectations because this is a new product that launched last June 29, 2017, so there aren’t any reviews about this yet. Are you also curious about what exactly this product do?
What is it?
Klairs Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop is a potent lightweight serum that will have you singing the blues — it won’t make you look like a Smurf, but it will smooth fine lines, repair damage, and strengthen the skin barrier while you sleep.
Klairs’ tantalizingly named Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop is formulated with powerful growth factors (EGF and FGF, which are key factors that keep the outer and inner parts of the skin firm and smooth and are crucial to the skin’s elasticity, gloss, and skin tone) to work not just on the surface of the skin but deep below to address the causes of fine lines. This serum fights free radicals, boosts collagen, and soothes skin irritated by UV rays, acne, and external stressors with blueberry extract, adenosine, and guaiazulene.
Klairs Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop is recommended for those in their mid-twenties, when young wrinkles begin to appear, to middle-aged who want to care for deep-set wrinkles.
INGREDIENTS: RH-Oligopeptide- 1, RH-Polypeptide- 1, Butylene Glycol, Vaccinium Angustifolium Blueberry) Fruit Extract, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Chlorphenesin, Guaiazulene, Ethylhexylglycerin, Adenosine.

Performance
APPLICATION: Before going to bed, and after cleansing, apply 3-4 drops of the blue drop to the face and quickly absorb into the skin. In the morning, I apply it before putting on sunblock or makeup. It’s best you use this blue drop at the first step of your skincare routine, as applying an oily product beforehand can interfere with the blue drop’s absorption.
Despite being a serum, the consistency of this product is watery, it’s like a toner! I don’t recommend using a cotton pad, instead, as soon as you put a drop on your face, spread it immediately using the light “patting” motion.

SCENT: When you try to smell it from the bottle, it has this mild chemical scent. But when you apply it on your face or try to smell it from your hands, it’s unscented. So I think, the chemical smell is just from the packaging.
PACKAGING: The bottle is made of brown-tinted glass which will protect it from UV rays. Meaning this product shouldn’t be exposed to sunlight. Better keep it in a cool place away from heat and the sun. While the box has the same color as the bottle’s label, that’s all I could say to it.

MY EXPERIENCE
Honestly, I was a bit afraid to try this product since I had no expectations. I have oily, sensitive, and acne-prone skin so I’m scared this product may cause me another breakout. But after one week of using this, my skin texture has improved. I feel like it’s smoother now and brighter so I guess the skin repair does work. However, I couldn’t say the same with the anti-aging because I’m still less than a year away in my mid-twenties and do not have any wrinkles yet. (I have to update this review on that later because I only have it for only 2 weeks.)
This serum works best at night but the label says I could also use this in the morning which I love. Since this is non-oily, non-sticky, repairs sun damage, and it calms my skin, so I love adding this to my morning routine. My skin looks healthier and smoother.

As you can see in my before on the left, that’s my skin after treating my acne. I’m left with dark spots, but another problem of mine is my dull skin and dark under-eyes. In the after photo on the right, my skin has improved.
UPDATE 07/16/2017: After one and a half weeks of using this product I also noticed that my undereye dark circles ~almost~ vanished as you can see from the new after photo above.
UPDATE 01/30/20019: I am still using this product (but a new bottle obviously) because this one makes my skin look good. But it oxidizes in warmer temperatures. To prevent it, I suggest storing it in the box packaging and keeping it on your refrigerator.
FAQ
Does it really help with your wrinkles?
As mentioned above, I’m still in my early twenties and does not have wrinkles yet. So I have no answer for you about that ~yet. But Klairs Midnight Blue Youth Activating drop is recommended for those in their early 20’s to prevent the appearance of wrinkles.
Is it safe for those who have acne?
Yes, it is.
Can I use Vitamin C serum with this?
Yes, you can. But make sure to apply this serum first because the oil from the Vitamin C will not be able for your skin to absorb this product. Wait for at least 2 minutes before applying a new serum to this product.
Does it oxidize?
I have this for almost 2 weeks so I’m not sure yet. But you have to keep this product in a cool place away from the sunlight. I keep mine in a refrigerator just to be safe because I live in a very hot country.
