Miracle in a Bottle: Missha Time Revolution First Treatment Essence Intensive Moist Review

I have been using this product since December 2017, and I’m only writing about it now. Why? Well, this product is one of the most recommended by many skincare enthusiasts, not just those obsessed with K-beauty. They say this is the best dupe of the SK-II Treatment Essence which is one of the best products in the market which effectively rejuvenates, moisturizes the skin and make it really glow, but also very pricey. So using this for only three weeks for a review might not give it justice because this may be cheaper than SK-II but this is still quite pricey for a k-beauty standard especially those with a college student budget. But did it lived up to its hype, is it really a “miracle in a bottle” as some would say? Then scroll down to read my Missha Time Revolution First Treatment Essence Intensive Moist review to know more.

VERDICT
MY THOUGHTS
After using Missha Time Revolution First Treatment Essence Intensive Moist for the first time, my skin felt so smooth and soft. After a week of using, I finally noticed my skin looks better. It's brighter and the dark spots left by acne were slowly lightening.
PROS
Absorbs well into the skin, does not leave a tacky or oily feeling on the skin.
Brightening
Lightens the dark spots left by acne
Smoothens and soften your skin
CONS
I honestly don't see any cons. But please, patch test before using it all over your skin. Not everyone reacts well to yeast or Lactic Acid.

WHAT IS IT?

Missha Time Revolution First Treatment Essence Intensive Moist is multi-purpose treatment essence infused with yeast—a miracle ingredient for beautifying skin. It rejuvenates complexion with the miracle water Fissione, an 80% fermented yeast concentrate that help smooths the appearance of fine lines and enlarged pores, controls sebum and discoloration, improves skin elasticity, protects against skin-aging caused by UV rays, boosts radiance for a beautiful glow.

INGREDIENTS

Some of you might be thinking, “it contains yeast?” Don’t be discouraged by that fungus. It is something we actually consume every day, it’s in our bread, wine, beer and more. So why not use it in skincare too since it has been proven effective. As mentioned in my post about Galactomyces, a skincare company employee in search of natural ingredient for beauty products noticed while she’s in a sake brewery that the elderly brewers’ hands to be smooth and wrinkle-free, while their faces showed signs of aging. And that observation led to years of research that resulted in now one of the most popular skincare ingredients.

But besides the yeast, the Missha FTE also contains Adenosine, Lactic Acid, and Niacinamide which are known to have anti-aging benefits. While Niacinamide is also a very popular skin-brightening ingredient. Although, those with sensitive skin need to be cautious with the Lastic Acid, try a sample first and patch test before committing to a whole new bottle. You can skin more about its ingredient analysis in Skin Carisma.

PERFORMANCE

APPLICATION: After washing your face, use the Missha Time Revolution First Treatment Essence Intensive Moist as the first step of your skincare routine. Traditionally, you pour the product into a cotton puff to soak. Lightly tap the product from the inside to the outside of the face until product is fully absorbed. For maximum absorption, massage the product in with your fingertips. But a lot of people from Asian Beauty Reddit and even Soko Glam’s The Klog both mentioned it is best to decant this in a small spray bottle and spray it directly on your face. I personally do that, but I don’t spray it directly on my face. What I do is spray twice on my palm and then tap both hands gently into my face until absorbed.

SCENT: It does not have a detectable scent.

PACKAGING: It is packaged in a glass bottle with a silver/chrome cap which feels and look so elegant. Although, it is heavy that is why I prefer to decant it in a spray bottle too. Since the glass bottle is hard, it’s quite hard for me to dispense some product out of it. It’s like forcing ketchup out of the glass bottle.

FORMULA: This is a liquefied essence so it is lightweight, absorbs fast into the skin, and it is not tacky or oily. I know the term “essence” is still confusing for some people, but here’s what I do. If the essence is thick like a gel or serum consistency, I apply it after toner. But if it is liquified like this Missha FTE, I apply this before a toner.

MY EXPERIENCE

Because the Missha FTE is lightweight, moisturizing, and does not leave an oily or tacky feeling on the skin, this is a perfect product for the 7 Skin Method. After applying this to my skin for the first time, it didn’t really give me a glowing skin overnight, however, my skin felt so smooth and soft! It’s like I have a whole new skin, it feels so different, like a brand new skin. I may sound exaggerated, but it really feels like a baby’s bum!

After a week of using this product, I finally noticed my skin looks better. It’s brighter and the dark spots left by acne were slowly lightening. And with continued use, I couldn’t see them anymore! During my birthday celebration last February in The Dessert Museum (pictured above) I didn’t apply a foundation because I forgot about it, but my skin looks good! And I don’t often say that about my skin. But I have acne-prone skin which means I get acne immediately when my hormones f***s up.

Take note though, this is an effective and powerful product, but it is still not enough for those with acne-prone skin. It will brighten and will lighten your dark spots, but this will not prevent acne. You’ll still have to use another product for it. Luckily, Missha FTE is 80% made from natural products so it’s safe to pair with other products such as BHA and Benzoyl Peroxide.

missha time revolution first treament essence intensive moist review - decanting
I decant the Missha FTE to a spray bottle. It’s easier to use and I don’t need a cotton pad.

NOTE: This Missha FTE I own and reviewed is the Intensive Moist formula which is the 2016 reformulation.
