Can the CosRx Low pH First Cleansing Milk Gel Really Remove Sunblock & Makeup?

cosrx low ph first cleansing milk gel review

There is no denying CosRx is one of my most favorite Korean Beauty Brands, but I also admit that not all of their products are great. Of course, just like any other brands, they also have hits and misses. Like their Two in One Poreless Power Liquid is so good, I don’t know how to live without it now. But I cannot say the same with their Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser. Although that didn’t stop me from trying their latest Low pH Cleanser. Just because I didn’t like the first product it doesn’t mean I won’t give them a second chance. Luckily, Philippine online beauty shop, Go Bloom & Glow, gave me a full bottle, so below is my CosRx Low pH First Cleansing Milk Gel review.

VERDICT
MY THOUGHTS
I find this CosRx Low pH First Cleansing Milk Gel than the original Low pH Good Morning Cleanser. But it's not enough to wash off makeup.
PROS
Moisturizing
Can remove sunblock and very light makeup.
It doesn't foam but it washes off really easily without a tacky or tight feeling.
CONS
Can't remove heavy makeup.
I don't recommend this for those with very sensitive skin.

PRODUCT RATING

WHAT IS IT?

CosRx Low pH First Cleansing Milk Gel is a first step cleanser for all skin types. But unlike the original, this one gently removes sunscreen and base makeup without irritation. It also has a pH level of 5.5 which is close to the pH level of the skin, this milky gel type cleanser is formulated with Witch Hazel and Allantoin to soothe and moisturize the skin, maintaining hydration even after finishing cleansing. Without leaving a sticky finish, the lightweight white cream changes its color/texture to transparent gel.

INGREDIENTS

According to Skin Carisma’s ingredient analysis, the CosRx Low pH First Cleansing Milk Gel does not have notable ingredients and effects but it is free of paraben, alcohol, and sulfate. But it is not Silicon-free. It is not an acne-fighting cleanser unlike the Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser.

PERFORMANCE

APPLICATION: Get an appropriate amount of the COSRX Low pH First Cleansing Milk Gel and massage it on your dry face to remove light makeup and skin waste, then wash it off with lukewarm water. Second step cleansing might be needed depending on your makeup.

SCENT: It does not smell like milk at all, actually its scent resembles a lemon more than a milk.

PACKAGING: Just like the Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser, this one is also packaged in a rubber tube which is easy to dispense the product. But the label is pure baby blue and white.

FORMULA: The texture does resemble a milk as well, they just have the same color. It’s more like a creamy gel. Actually, it resembles Glossier Milk Jelly Cleanser more than a milk. The gel is light, thin, not tacky, and easy to massage on the skin to remove the sunblock and makeup.

RESULT: First of all, I find this a good morning cleanser than the actual Low pH Good Morning Cleanser. I massage it on my dry face and after washing it off my face feels soft, clean, and ready for a new application of skincare products and especially makeup. While for the night, I find this cleanser truly removes sunblock creams and essences on your face. But makeup, well if the makeup you only used is a pressed powder and tint, then yes it can remove makeups. Heavier makeups like foundation and BB cream, better use a cleansing oil instead. Lastly, it doesn’t foam or even produces tiny bubbles at all. But it washes off easily with just water at any temperature.

Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser vs. Low pH First Cleansing Milk Gel

On the texture, the Good Morning Cleanser feels lighter on the skin than the First Cleansing Milk Gel especially when wet. But the First Cleansing Milk Gel feels more moisturizing than the Good Morning Cleanser which made the skin feels tight after every wash. Plus, the Cleansing Milk can remove sunblock and light makeup but it is not an acne-fighting cleanser.

Now the big question did it irritate my skin like the Low pH Good Morning Cleanser?

There’s a handful of people who complain that the original CosRx Low pH Cleanser irritated their skin, and tiny bumps appeared on their skin, just like what happened to mine. Well, my skin looks just the same after two weeks of using this First Cleansing Milk Gel. So I guess it is less irritating than the Good Morning Cleanser but if you have sensitive skin, I suggest just look for other cleansers, don’t gamble. But my dad (who has dry skin) took this First Cleansing Milk Gel, and he likes it. He said it’s like Cetaphil for him. Personally, as mentioned above, this resembles Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser more but minus the strong artificial rose scent.
