A few months ago, Kiehl’s was kind enough to send me three products from their Clearly Corrective Brightening Line. And this is cleanser among the three products is one of the few products I really use til it’s empty. But did I really love it? WHAT IS IT?
Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Brightening & Exfoliating Daily Cleanser is gentle, exfoliating cleanser that helps to purify skin from oil, dirt, and pollutants while visibly enhancing skin clarity. This foaming face wash claims to gently cleanses the skin of oil, dirt, and environmental pollutants. It is recommended for those has dull skin, large pores, uneven skin tone, and texture.
INGREDIENTS
Infused with white birch extract and peony extract, this formula helps to visibly enhance the look of skin clarity while pearlstone, derived from volcanic ash, acts as a gentle exfoliant. It also contains Salicylic Acid which has acne-fighting benefits and Citric Acid which has anti-aging properties. You can read its full ingredient analysis in Skin Carisma.
PERFORMANCE
APPLICATION: Apply to clean fingertips. And then gently massage onto face using upward, circular motions. Avoid the immediate eye area. Rinse thoroughly or remove with a damp washcloth. Can be used morning and night.
SCENT: It has a very unique smell, like a generic facial cleanser that claims to be unscented but there’s still a detectable scent but with a hint of a little citrus.
PACKAGING: It is packaged in a rubber tube which makes it easy to dispense the product into your fingers. But the facial cleanser leaks in time from the cap so you have to be careful about it if you don’t want to waste any product. It does not also come with a box, instead, it is wrapped in plastic.
FORMULA: The Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Brightening & Exfoliating Daily Cleanser has a gel-like texture but with scrubs that are really visible and you could feel on your skin. It does not hurt but I noticed it never dissolves with water. You just have to wash it off completely.
RESULT: I used this facial cleanser for almost 2 months and I find it a really decent product. It didn’t irritate my skin because I’m used to Salicylic Acid anyway. It did make my skin look smoother and feels softer. And sure, I did find my skin look brighter than usual while using the Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Brightening & Exfoliating Daily Cleanser. But did it prevent acne? Not really, although it did remove the whiteheads on my skin and lessen the blackheads. Also, this facial wash is a bit drying so I think it’s better suited for those with oily skin.
Overall, I like this facial cleanser, I honestly do! The only reason I had a second-thought of actually purchasing this with my money is that it’s too pricey. I could get the same facial wash like this with only around $10 like the CosRx Low Ph Good Morning Gel Cleanser.
VERDICT
PROS: It really did make my skin smoother, softer, and brighter. And wasn’t abrasive to my acne despite having scrubs. But it was good at reducing my whiteheads and blackheads.
CONS: The scrubs doesn’t really dissolve with water. You have to complete wash if off from your face or else you’ll still be left with little scrubs on your skin. So make sure you avoid this on your eyes.
