Hype or Not: L’Oréal Infallible Pro-Matte 24hr Foundation Review

I have oily skin and I live in a very humid country, that’s not a good combination! My makeup literally melts on my face, and even if I set it with a good primer or setting spray for oily skin, it will only give me around two-three hours before my makeup starts melting. That is why I only buy the best long-lasting matte foundation that I could afford. But sometimes, I want something drug-store makeup because they’re affordable and I wouldn’t feel bad if I use it for a non-special occasion. Luckily, a bunch of bloggers and even Reddit makeup junkies recommended this foundation from L’Oreal. The best part, they had a sale in my country so I hurriedly bought it, but did it live up to my expectations? Read my L’Oréal Infallible Pro-Matte 24hr Foundation review to know.

WHAT IS IT?

L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte 24hr Foundation is a long-lasting liquid foundation with staying power up to 24 hours. It has full-coverage, long-wearing formula, and fights against makeup meltdowns for all-day staying power. It’s also air-light and oil-free.

PERFORMANCE

APPLICATION: On thoroughly cleansed skin, apply Infallible 24HR Foundation using fingers or a makeup blending foam at the center of the face, blending outwards.

SCENT: I think it’s supposed to scentless, but it has those generic “foundation smell”.

PACKAGING: It is packaged as is in a sturdy yet easily-squeezed tube. I actually prefer foundations in a tube because you can really squeeze out every ounce of it and you can also cut it in half to scrape out the leftovers. You’ll really get all your money’s worth.

RESULTS: First of all, this foundation oxidizes so much. I’m so glad I decided to buy this in a department store instead of an online shop. I first took the shade that matches my skin but it turned orange so bad! So I tried the 2 shades lighter and same thing happened. Until I ended up buying the 4th shade lighter than my skin tone! It’s because I’m very acidic so this foundation turns orange on my skin.

Anyhow, I think that oxidation test should have been my red flag. At first, the foundation looks good on my skin. The cover is great and it really lasts long. Until I look really close in my pocket mirror and noticed my oily skin have dry patches and this foundation highlights it a lot. It also creases, so my pores and the unpleasant texture of my skin are very noticeable. Of course, I had a solution for that. I prep my skin with moisturizer and a primer. However, it seems like the foundation is rejecting those products because the texture becomes a mess! It’s a little cakey like the foundation is trying to separate from them. So I ditched the moisturizer and the same thing happened. Next, I ditched the primer and used the moisturizer instead and the SAME THING HAPPENED! It seems like this product wants to be used alone as the only base.

VERDICT

PROS: Good coverage and long-lasting.

CONS: It’s too matte. It highlights dry patches and pores even when you moisturized and prime. Those with sensitive skin might look for a skin-type specific foundation.
