7 Reasons to Love Your Small Breasts

Last week, Keira Knightly made a LOT of headlines after her topless photo surfaced. And just in case you’re living under rock, no, it wasn’t another case of celebrity hacking scandal. These photos were photographed by Patrick Demarchelier, and as expected from him, the shot was very classy despite Knightly’s nips were in full-frontal. [Warning: This post is not safe for work or school.]

The shot was part of an editorial for Interview Magazine and KK’s own personal protest against photoshopping. The actual root of this Keira Knightly Topless Photo Protest can be traced back in 2004, when her chest were controversially photoshoped to look bigger than they are in real life for the poster of King Arthur film. Well, ten years later KK is still taking a stand and enlisted her nipples to join the fight. She wants to let everyone know that there’s nothing wrong with having a small set, she told The Times:

“I’ve had my body manipulated so many different times for so many different reasons, whether it’s paparazzi photographers or for film posters. That [shoot] was one of the ones where I said: ‘OK, I’m fine doing the topless shot so long as you don’t make them any bigger or retouch.’ Because it does feel important to say it really doesn’t matter what shape you are.

I think women’s bodies are a battleground and photography is partly to blame. Our society is so photographic now, it becomes more difficult to see all of those different varieties of shape.”

Well, I agree with KK, there’s really no reason to dislike your small chest. Actually there’s a lot of reasons to love it, and science agrees with it!

1. They Make You Look Younger

If you were in your teenage years, this fact may have been devastating, but now that you’re older (and wiser) it’s something you can appreciate. Your flat, perky chest is making you look young, ladies. Since larger breasts sag over time, it’s a signal that a woman is older. Aging? Ha, not you! Go on, tell the guy at the bar you’re five years younger. He may never know.

2. You Feel More Pleasure in Bed

Despite what Playboy centerfolds and porn stars may have you believing, your small chest have a large advantage in the bedroom. University of Vienna researchers found that large breasts are 24 percent less sensitive than small breasts. So what does that mean for you and your lovely sunny side up egg sized chest? Well, since they have less fatty tissue, your breasts are easier to stimulate during foreplay! More motion, more feeling, more fun.

3. Financially-Secure Men Love You

Pop culture, especially movies and TV shows, usually tells us that men loves big breasts, but they never say what kind of men. Well, do you know who are you attracting with your small tatas? Financially-secure men, that’s who! According to a Psychology Today study that asked men of different socio-economic statuses which breast size they found more sexually attractive, women with large breasts are luring in the poor fellas. Researchers suggest that women’s breast size may act as a “signal of fat reserves, which in turn advertises access to resources”.

4. And Sexist Men Don’t!

We all call guys who only like women with big boobs are shallow but science proves they’re sexist, too. According to a study from the University of Westminster, which examined the connection between sexism in men and breast size, men who see bigger boobs as more attractive also see women as “meek and weak.” Um, no thanks.

5. You’ll Have Better Posture

You not only don’t experience the back pain many large-breasted women do but you have better posture because your front isn’t weighing your body down. A pair of D-cup breasts can weigh between 15 and 23 pounds—ouch! Dr. Marisa Weiss, oncologist and founder of breastcancer.org, explains in addition to altering a woman’s posture, big breasts cause neck tension and headaches.

6. You Have Bra Freedom

Go to the nearest lingerie store, or in the bra aisle of a department store, and you’ll see A-cups have many options. I don’t know exactly the scientific explanation for this but A-cup sizes are always available. Tops with built-in ones? Bandeaus? Lacy ones that offer minimal support? That bright pink polka-dot training bra catch your eye? No problem! Don’t want to wear a bra? That’s A-Cup OK.

7. They Can Keep You Healthy

Did you know having small chest can save your life too? They can help you prevent breast cancer! Dr. Weiss told Cosmopolitan it’s easier to detect a lump with smaller breasts in self-exams because there are fewer layers to feel through.

By now you’re probably loving your tiny chest, but take note that not only Keira Knightly is embracing her small chest and look totally hot. There are actually a lot of ladies like Kate Moss, Cameron Diaz, Mila Kunis, Olivia Wilde, Gwyneth Paltrow, the list goes on. You’re a member of this fierce committee of hot ladies who are petite on top.
