pastel makeup for dark skin 2

Pastel makeup is having a comeback this season. When I blogged about different ways to wear pastel makeups a few weeks ago, I noticed something. All of the inspirations/ guides that I gathered for that post are only for women with pale or white skin. So even myself can’t follow the blog post I wrote for rocking the pastel makeup since my skin is natural tan or brown because I’m a Filipino.

Because of that, I have been looking for inspirations and articles about pastel makeup for dark skin women and I’m very disappointed that I found out that there are not enough articles in the internet not only on how to rock pastel makeup if you have dark skin but beauty articles or websites that offers tips and products for women of color.

So at that time I only thought of one thing: Ask a professional makeup artist. Luckily, Sarah Lucero of Stila Cosmetic’s Ask Sarah provided me with a solution:

“To pull off the pastel shades on your darker skin, I would suggest that if you already have a pastel shade that you love you, that you blend this shade with a bronzer to warm it up just a bit.  This way it adjusts the color so that it does not appear “ashy” on the skin.  Another thing you can do is to wear a light wash of color on the lids.  Colors such as coral, teal, or yellow will look great on your skin and are appropriate with the undertones of your dark skin tone.”
