It all started when Cara Delevingne opened the Chanel Haute Couture 2014 Show wearing a pair of sneakers. Everyone probably gasped and asked themselves “is this couture?” but then before it all happened and before Isabel Marant debuted her now classic wedge sneakers, in the beginning of mixing low and high end clothes trend there are some fashionistas from different parts of the world defending and trying to make fashion smuggy buggys accept their choice of Nike Airs and Adidas Neon styled with their chic and edgy outfits. But thanks to Karl Lagerfeld, it is now 100% accepted. He cemented the acceptance of sneakers (or trainers, whatever you prefer) as a fashionable footwear and the bonus part, it’s very comfy! Fashion month brings out some notable footwear. But this season, the fashion set seemed to (almost) unanimously agree that the perfect winter shoes are simple sneakers. Below are the round up of best street style sneakers from New York to London to Milan.
In New York, Taylor Tomasi Hill kicked off Fashion Week with Saint Laurent high-tops — that she swapped out later in the week for some saddle-shoe-inspired Keds — while in London, blogger Camille Charriere stood out in throwback Adidas Superstars. Others preferred dressier versions, like Eva Chen’s iridescent high-tops, Joan Smalls’s silver Nikes, or Susie Lau’s gold lace-ups. By the end of week three, it’s indisputable: Athletic shoes — everything from Reeboks to Converse to New Balance — are all over the place.
These street style sneakers makes me feel like 90’s all over again but more chic and edgier this time.
