I know Radiant Orchid is the color of the year and I must say it is not a bad color especially as a makeup but it’s almost spring now (or is it already?) and I think orange is pretty much the ideal spring color, don’t you? To actually prove it, I searched for some subtle orange lips look over the net and then I found Kristen Bell, who is apparently way ahead of us. She’s figured this whole March-beauty thing out gorgeously. Check out her sheer, luminous, cantaloupe-colored lipstick. It’s pre-spring perfection in one lovely makeup look. But to perfect this look especially to those with beige, tanned, olive or darker skin (like me) I recommend you use a lip primer like Too Faced Lip Insurance before you apply your orange lipstick to get the exact color of the lipstick on your lips.
To keep the whole look soft and playful, her blush is the same color as her lipstick, with a similarly luminous quality. It’s entirely possible that her makeup artist actually used the lipstick on her cheeks and then sheered it out with her fingers. For a double duty lip and cheek makeup I highly recommend Benefit Cosmetic Cha Cha Tint and the new NARS Matte Multiple (which I will write a review very soon). Her messy, texturized hair gives the whole thing a casual-cool feel, which is tricky to do when you’re wearing a full face of makeup — but I think she pulls it off.
