Whether you like her or not, you must admit Anne Hathaway have great style. Since she parted ways with famous celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe I notice some changes on her looks. While she was with Zoe, her look was classic and sophisticated (very true to her stylist’s “Le Smoking” style) but nowadays it’s more vibrant and youthful yet classy. Seriously, who knew you can still look classy in a crop top?! Those were stigmatize by hippies and twenty-something Coachella-goers as a boho chic staple yet she pulled it off nicely at the Miami premiere of her latest film Rio 2.
At the event, Anne posed with exotic animals and swooned us with beaded crop top (those glitzy embellishments are sooo luxe!) then took it to the next level by pairing the scoop neck top with a pleated navy midi skirt — a flirty, on-trend piece that made the midriff-baring outfit extremely elegant and a bit 60’s when she accessorized it with leopard-print wayfarers which reminds me of the pair that Audrey Hepburn wore as Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
The style lesson in here is that opposites attract for a reason: A high-waisted, just-below-the-knee skirt not only adds ladylike flair to this look (and any look, really), but it also minimizes the amount of skin you’re flashing in that cutoff top. Plus, the mix of flowy and structured separates are key to making this outfit feel ultra modern — going fitted head-to-toe could look a tad, shall we say, skimpy, while the loose-all-over look creates a boxy silhouette that’s anything but flattering. Anne’s got it just right. I actually tried the same look last year on my friend’s surprise birthday bash, but with a wide-leg chiffon pants that you can mistaken as a skirt. Yes I look chic but more boho chic compared to Anne’s look. So if you want to get Anne Hathaway’s classy crop top look then shop these options that I rounded up:
