Clothes To Get You Noticed by Photographers This Fashion Week 2014

Fashion Week 2014 Season will kick off this February 6 in New York City and once again we will see endless street style photos of over-the-top stylish people who may -or may not- be peacocking to bait the photographers, bloggers and bystanders with iPhone to take their photos to follow the likes of Anna Dello Russo, Miroslava Duma, K-Pop Stars (that are invading every fashion week in the world), etc.

There are a lot of people, especially old school fashion critics, are very vocal about the street style trend and how it is not authentic or rather “street” anymore. I’m sure by now everyone is aware that most people who go to fashion weeks from celebs to fashion bloggers are gifted with clothes or paid to wear a certain brand when they go to fashion week for advertising. Honestly, I don’t see anything wrong with it. Just think of it as editorials gone to streets, more accessible and realistic than we see on the pages of the magazines because someone is actually wearing the outfit on the streets whether it looks incredibly ridiculous or tamed. Actually, I had observed that trends are now formed from this street style sensation.

Are you going to any fashion weeks this season? (Lucky you!) Whether you are attending or will follow through blogs, expect to see stylish sporty sneakers which has became a fashion vernacular since last year and we must thank Karl Lagerfeld for sealing it by showing a vast array of stylish sneaks to his haute couture show. You will also surely spot countless sweatshirts that are still trendy as long as they’re imprinted with something oddball like those fishes from Kenzo and a Coca-Cola logo from Marc Jacobs and of course, any Celine products from their spring 2014 collection will be everywhere you turn. It will never be fashion week street style without any Celine products, after all they are the most photographed brand last year. Also expect pastel colors especially on coats, funky sunnies even though sun might be limited due to cold weather, Greek fishermen hats, wide leg ponchos, backpacks, fur coats (preferably faux), fringe garments which will definitely look good when you are late and running but actually your doing a wonderful pose with those fringes and lastly, it wouldn’t be complete without pieces from a rising design star.

Lovely post, Alyssa. It was very enjoyable to read about street style fashion from your perspective. Since the role of bloggers at NYFW will be more limited it will be interesting to follow if and how street style fashion at Fashion weeks will evolve.

  • Great post! Now if I could only get myself to NYFW… 🙂

  • Love this post! I just wish I was on my way to NYFW right now, rather than reading about.

  • I always think of FW as the Oscars. Some people look very elegant and some people are over-the-top. Fashion should be fun no matter what the style.
