There are quite a bunch of people online hating this show “The Carrie Diaries” they say it’s not like the Carrie Bradshaw they know, it’s just a rip-off of Sex & The City but then, this is the prequel of the iconic HBO show, if you want something like SATC then watch Girls instead. The show even always say this on the opening,
“before there was sex, before there was the city, there was just me, Carrie Bradshaw”
So don’t expect it will be like the show we knew and loved, this is way different. For god’s sake Carrie lives in Connecticut! Actually, I find The Carrie Diaries more as the replacement of Gossip Girl. Their target audience are the 13 to 20-year-old girls not the twenty-something group who had probably experienced everything that the young Carrie Bradshaw still experiencing on the show. Though it may be different but it doesn’t mean that the young Carrie Bradshaw is less than stylish! They may be no Manolo or Dior but the wardrobe is still phenomenon. Thanks to Eric Daman who is also the stylist that made Blair Waldorf and Serena van der Woodsen fashion icons and who also apprenticed to Patricia Fields, the stylist of the original Sex & The City.
The show was set in the 80’s when Madonna and romance novels like those written by Daniel Steel were the hit. But Daman didn’t find it that hard to travel back in time after the wrapping of Gossip Girl after all he lived in the 80’s. He even have his own clothes from 80’s included in the show’s wardrobe. Before the show started I blogged about how to get the young Carrie Bradshaw’s look and Carrie’s cute graphic dress from episode 11, this time take a peak on the real wardrobe of the show!! Better get a tissue first, you might end up drooling!
Eric Daman: The person behind those gorgeous looks we loved from Gossip Girl and now in The Carrie Diaries
Did you just had an “oohh” and “ahhh” moment? I wish I also have the show’s wardrobe especially those tutu skirts. What do you think of the wardrobe?
