Only one thing ended this month and it’s not the world as we know it but it’s the most loved (at least for the first 3 seasons) show about the rich Upper East Side kids. After six seasons of scandals, clever scheming, mystery, on-again/ off-again relationships and iconic looks that changed our wardrobes forever, Gossip Girl is really over and they not only showed one wedding but two… Someone also ended up dead but there was no funeral (spoiler!).
This post is not the finale’s summary. I’m not going to tell you guys that… On-again, off-again, and then on-again Blair Waldorf and Chuck Bass FINALLY tied the knot in a quickie wedding somewhere in Central Park, seriously! They skipped the “I do” parts but exchange their own vows “Three words, eight letters,” Chuck said, referencing the first time they both felt like saying “I love you” but couldn’t muster the courage to do so. Blair quickly responded, “One word, three letters, yes.” (No more runaway bride this time) and had an adorable child 5 years later.
Serena van der Woodsen, Dan Humphrey, Nate Archibald, Georgina Sparks, Lily van der Woodsen, Jack Bass, Eleanor Waldorf and forever loyal minion of Queen B, Dorota Kishlovsky watched the on-and-off couple pledge to spend eternity together.
And then, it was revealed, Dan Humphrey is Gossip Girl and confesses his love for Serena (duh!). The last 20 minutes of the show was a flash forward showing how our Upper East Side BFFs spend the next five years of their lives ending with Dan marrying his one — both first and final — true love, Serena van der Woodsen, as Florence + the Machine‘s “You’ve Got the Love” played. Their friends and family — including siblings Jenny Humphrey and Erik van der Woodsen (yay! Little J & E were back!) — watched as the Inside author (and ex-Gossip Girl) and the Upper East Side socialite sealed the deal.
Blair Waldorf’s wedding dress was a hand-embellished Ellie Saab Spring 2012 Couture dress accessorized with, what else?! A headband (just like her first wedding). While Serena van der Woodsen’s wedding dress was a strapless gold and white Georges Chakra Couture gown and carried a large bouquet of flowers.
Blair definitely looks like a true queen on her dress while Serena, well let’s just say, stay true to her personality… No, I’m going to seal my lips and stop myself from typing the show summary. I’m not going to spoil the Gossip Girl Season Finale for you people who haven’t watch it yet. I’m going to focus in S & B’s wedding dresses.
This was Blair’s Ellie Saab Spring 2012 Couture gown presented at the runway. This glamorous and sophisticated dress was hand-embellished, most likely designed to be a red carpet or gala dress but Queen B beautifully wore it as a wedding dress. It’s not actually white but light blue, so I am sensing a new wedding dress color trend again! Though blue has been more of a regular wedding dress color more than pink and next to white but after gossip girl I could sense more show-fanatics thinking of making their wedding dresses a blue.
This gold and white Georges Chakra couture gown presented at the runway was Serena’s wedding dress. It was glamorous and Serena looks beautiful but I expected more for the show’s ultimate it-girl. Face it, the dress was lame! It’s not because it’s a gold wedding dress, I actually find gold an interesting and unique choice for a wedding gown, but it’s the structure. Even if it wasn’t use on the show as Serena van der Woodsen’s wedding dress and found it on the red carpet instead worn by an actress, this dress will still go to my worst dress list. It’s not an attractive dress, that’s all. Maybe the show’s costume budget was also cut and they were left to rent/buy/whatever the least attractive dress from Georges Chakra’s couture collection.
